Outlander: What happened to Faith Fraser? Tragic backstory of Jamie and Claire’s baby

Outlander takes its cue from the novels by US author Diana Gabaldon, who has written a total of eight books to date. The Starz TV series has remained true to the source material on the whole with season five expected to be something of a departure from the one book per series rule. Writer Gabaldon is now working on her ninth book with reports she will be rounding off the Outlander series with a 10th instalment.

What happened to Faith Fraser?

Both season two of Outlander and its novel counterpart Dragonfly in Amber follow Claire Fraser’s (played by Caitriona Balfe) first pregnancy.

Claire fell pregnant with their child after believing she wouldn’t be able to conceive when she and her first husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) tried without much luck.

However, Claire realised she was fertile after finding herself with child and sharing the news with her delighted second husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Sadly, the pregnancy was a risky one for the 20th Century nurse who was trying to change the course of history and prevent the Jacobite Rising through court intrigue in 18th Century Paris.

Claire sadly lost her child after going into early labour as she raced to stop Jaime from duelling with Captain Jack Randall (also Menzies).

The nurse was rushed to the L’Hôpital des Anges where her baby was stillborn, leaving Claire devastated.

She named the baby girl Faith and the infant was buried by the nuns in the hospital’s cemetery.

Despite the death of the child, both Jamie and Claire never forgot their first daughter and have previously mentioned her.

Jamie and Claire went on to have another daughter Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton), who came back through the stones to be reunited with her parents.

The Highlander mentioned Brianna had red hair like her sister Faith after Claire showed him photos of their child in season three when the lovers were reunited.

Speaking about the inclusion of the line, actress Balfe told TV Line: “I was like, ‘Can we please put in just even the tiniest thing about Faith?’

“Because I think anyone who has lost a child or had a miscarriage or anything like that, it’s something they would never forget and that is still part of this family.”

Some fans recently asked at New York Comic-Con whether Faith could be turning up in the show or books going forward.

Gabaldon told the audience at the Starz panel: “As far as anybody knows, Faith died in Dragonfly In Amber and we haven’t seen any trace of her since. So I wouldn’t hold your breath.”

Balfe previously reflected on the stillbirth scenes, telling Variety in an interview in 2016: “So when I first got the script, I mean, I cried.

“I emailed [writer] Toni [Graphia] straight away, and I was just like, “This is so beautiful. You’ve made me cry like a baby.’

“I loved how Toni handled it. It was in such a respectful way, and such a beautiful way, and I think it’s such a defining moment in Claire’s life and for her character, that in a way, you just relish these moments as an actor to be able to go through this journey with the character.”

Outlander season 5 will premiere on Starz on February 16

Everyone’s talking about Watchmen, and rightfully so. The HBO adaptation of the iconic graphic novel is fantastic and lives up to the hype. It also features a killer score courtesy of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The score will be streaming at some point, but if you want to get your hands on a vinyl release, you’re in luck. The Watchmen soundtrack will be released in three volumes on vinyl, with each release coinciding with a major plot point on the series. In addition to the soundtrack news, you can also check out a link to supplementary material that will fill in the blanks between the Watchmen comic and the new show.

As you can see above, the Watchmen score is being released in three volumes, on three different dates: November 4, November 25, and December 16. That’s a whole lot of music, and there’s a method behind this release madness. Jeff Jenson, a story editor on the show, stated on Twitter that the albums will be released at “key points of the season.” They’ll also be “packed with extras.”

HBO’S WATCHMEN HAS BEGUN! TRENT AND ATTICUS’ SCORE IS NOW AVAILABLE TO PREORDER.

THE SCORE WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THREE UNIQUE VOLUMES, RELEASED AT STRATEGIC TIMES OVER THE ROLLOUT OF THE SERIES. THE ONLY PHYSICAL MEDIA WILL BE 180G VINYL.

CREATED IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SHOW’S WRITERS, EACH LP FEATURES THE SCORE FROM ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS TRENT REZNOR AND ATTICUS ROSS, AS WELL AS ARTWORK AND PACKAGING EXCLUSIVE TO THIS VINYL RELEASE THAT EXPLORES THE CULTURE OF WATCHMEN AMERICA AND PROVIDES REVEALING INSIGHTS INTO THE SAGA’S MYTHOLOGY AND MYSTERIES.

VOLUME 1 IS AVAILABLE 11/4
VOLUME 2 IS AVAILABLE 11/25
VOLUME 3 IS AVAILABLE 12/16

VINYL PRE-ORDERS ARE AVAILABLE NOW.

DIGITAL AND WIDER IN-STORE VINYL RELEASE FOR EACH VOLUME WILL BE AVAILABLE SHORTLY AFTER THE ABOVE DATES.

All told, the three releases will feature 39 tracks.

If you’re hungry for even more red hot Watchmen content, you should head on over to this link. HBO is putting out supplementary material that helps fill in some blanks and answer some questions fans might have, specifically about the time period between the comic’s end and the show’s beginning. My guess is this link will be updated every week with more info. Kicking things off are articles about Bass Reeves, the figure seen in the silent movie that starts the first episode; background on Rorschach and how he’s become a hero to the white supremacist group the Seventh Kavalry; and an article about Adrian Veidt being declared dead.

'How to Get Away with Murder': Will Nate Sell Out Annalise to the FBI?

Season 6 of ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder is underway, and there is no shortage of murder and deception. The final season only has 11 more episodes to wrap up loose ends. We still have so many questions.

While Viola Davis’s character, Annalise Keating is often brutal and harsh, she has not killed anyone. Many people kill for her, and she helps to cover up the many murders. If she goes down, everyone goes down. So, the question remains, will Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) give the FBI what they want regarding Annalise? Warning: Season 6 Spoilers

Nate has two solid reasons to give the FBI what they want

The FBI has promised him a job. He lost his career as a detective because of Annalise. A position in the FBI could be just what Nate needs to restart his life.

More importantly, the FBI promises that they will find out who killed Nate’s father. He is unable to have closure until he knows who ordered the hit on his Pops.

A post shared by How to Get Away with Murder (@howtogetawaywithmurder) on

Will these two reasons be enough for Nate to tell the FBI even just one of the many things that Annalise is hiding? Let’s analyze this further.

If Annalise goes down, Nate does, too

Season 5 of How to Get Away with Murder revolved around the brutal slaughter of the Assistant District Attorney Miller. Nate and Bonnie are responsible for Miller’s murder, and Annalise knows about it.

If Annalise is brought in for questioning and finds out that Nate sold her out, she might give up dirt on Nate to save herself. All of these thoughts must be running through his head while chatting with the FBI.

He is internally torn in two different directions. He wants to know what happened to his Pops, but is it worth going to jail?

Fan opinions on whether or not Nate will give up Annalise

Fans took to Reddit to discuss the recent episode of How to Get Away with Murder. One user wrote, “They really think Nate will turn on Annalise that easily?” The FBI has offered an immunity deal to Laurel and Annalise already up to this point. It seems as if they are going down the list to see who might crack.

Another Reddit user thinks that Nate might be in trouble, “Hey Nate, playing both sides going to get you hurt.” Since he is lying to Bonnie and giving up information on Teagan, it is beginning to look like he is in over his head.

One fan suggested, “Anyone else feel like Nate may have a psychotic break like his father?” There is a lot of pressure being put on Nate. We saw in past seasons that Nate Sr. frequently reacted with rage when under pressure. It is possible that Nate could snap in the same way.

It’s not likely that Nate will give the FBI anything on Annalise, but this is How to Get Away with Murder after all. Nate already has one murder on his hands. Find out what happens next Thursday at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Everything to Know About Modern Love, the Amazon Prime Series Bringing Twitter to Tears

Move over This Is Us, there’s a new TV series clearing out the tissue aisle.

Modern Love, which streams on Amazon Prime and stars Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, Dev Patel, Catherine Keener, Andrew Scott and John Slattery, has become an instant hit after just three days of streaming — and Twitter is in tears over it.

Created by John Carney, the anthology series contains eight 30-minute, unconnected episodes based on The New York Times‘ weekly column that features personal essays about love penned by New York residents.

Since the show began streaming all eight episodes on Friday, viewers can’t get enough of the emotional rollercoaster that is Modern Love.

“I’m seriously only watching #ModernLove for the Andrew Scott episode.,” wrote one Twitter user. “But I’m on episode 2 now and already bawling my eyes out.I’m a sappy sap and this show is exactly what I need today.”

Fans specifically praised Hathaway’s performance as Lexi, a woman who struggles with bipolar disorder during the third episode, “Take Me as I Am, Whoever I Am.”

Carney, who directed and wrote the Oscar-winning romantic drama film Once, told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday that he stumbled upon the NYT‘s popular column years ago when making a film.

“I used to read the column because I couldn’t concentrate on anything else — when you’re making a film it’s hard to read about anything important in the world, no gloomy headlines,” he said. “‘Modern Love’ was the perfect espresso in the morning — a quick, five-minute read.”

Dev Patel and Catherine Keener

The director, who also helped write most of the episodes, looked through the collection of essays to find emotional stories that would touch the viewers of his adaption.

“All I really thought to myself was, ‘Pick ones that you feel connected to; try to avoid the ones you think are cute or maybe I could make a conventional TV show out of them — pick the ones that spoke to you because of something your mother once said to you or because of a theme that happened to you,'” Carney explained. “Personally, two of the stories for me are about having babies, which we had just done for the first time and that was very fresh in my life.”

Shea Whigham and Julia Garner

He also said that the original writers were paid for the show to use their stories, but were not involved in the creative process. However, they were shown the final episodes to give their approval.

The series also stars Brandon Victor Dixon, Julia Garner, Shea Whigham, Garry Carr, Cristin Milioti, and Olivia Cooke.

Modern Love is streaming now on Amazon Prime.

Piers Morgan blasts 'snivelling' Dan Walker as rivals row over Meghan Markle

Piers Morgan and his daytime TV rival Dan Walker have clashed again, this time over Meghan Markle the Duchess of Sussex.

It comes after ITV aired a documentary about their visit to Africa, in which the duchess admitted how she was struggling with the media attention since becoming a mum.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, who has been very vocal about his feelings about Meghan in the past, accused her and husband Prince Harry of their trip ‘all about their own terrible struggles’.

He tweeted: ‘Imagine being two staggeringly privileged royal multi-millionaires going to Africa to make a documentary that supposedly “shines a light” on poverty, violence against women/girls & racial inequality – then in fact making it all about their own terrible struggle? I mean, FFS.’

Dan fired back, retweeting his comment and calling Piers out for ‘picking on’ the duchess.

‘Imagine being given a TV show & a newspaper column & using them both to pick on a woman who didn’t want to go out for a second drink with you,’ he said.

Piers, who has repeatedly accused Meghan of ghosting him, clarified the situation with a string of putdowns: ‘Imagine being the dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV?

‘Ps For the record, I never asked Meghan for a drink, she asked me.’

Not wanting to leave it there, the BBC Breakfast host shot back: ‘Imagine losing the plot (and the argument) to the “dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV”‘ adding a thumbs up and cry-laughing face emojis, along with the jokey hashtag #TearsForPiers.

‘Mate, the only thing I lose when jousting with you is the will to live,’ Piers said.

As ever, Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid calmly stepped in with the point that everything highlighted in the programme was worth hearing about.

She said: ‘Most of it was about the charity work they do. Hugely important. It was also an insight into their personal state of mind. Also important.’

Earlier this year Piers has congratulated Meghan on being a ‘top social climber’, accused her of behaving ‘like a Kardashian’, and advised her to ‘go back to America’ if she wants privacy.

‘Good Place’ star Jameela Jamil ‘almost threw up on camera’ hosting ‘Misery Index’

NEW YORK — Jameela Jamil can’t tell you how “The Good Place” ends.

But she can say that the existential NBC sitcom, now in its fourth and final season (Thursdays, 9 EDT/PDT), welcomes an “unbelievable guest star” from another NBC show in its emotional series finale: “I still can’t believe that happened – I have to keep looking at the pictures to believe it.”

On “Good Place,” Jamil plays shallow British socialite Tahani, who works together with Kristen Bell’s cynical Eleanor and Ted Danson’s well-meaning devil to save themselves (and the universe). It’s the first major acting role for the former English teacher, who got her start hosting TV and radio shows including “T4” and “Freshly Squeezed” in her native England.

Now Jamil, 33, is returning to her roots with TBS’ “The Misery Index” (premiering Tuesday, 10 EDT/PDT), an irreverent game show. She chats with USA TODAY about the new series, “Good Place” and her self-worth movement “I Weigh,” which has nearly 1 million followers on Instagram.

Question: So how does the game work?

Jameela Jamil: “The Misery Index” is a way to make a fortune off of other people’s misfortune. So you have a scale of one to 100, and this is the “scale of misery,” basically. You’ll be given different real-life scenarios that have happened to people, and you have to decide where they land on that scale in order to win $30,000. And you have The Tenderloins (comedy troupe, better known as the Impractical Jokers) advising you on how best to make those decisions.

Q: What’s one of the grossest things you’ve seen on the show?

Jamil: I saw a zit that had been around for 20 years finally popped. That was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I almost threw up on camera, which was terrible, but very funny.

Q: On “Good Place,” Tahani is famously known for name-dropping all the celebrities she’s friends with. Has anyone mentioned on the show ever reached out to you in real life?

Jamil: I did meet Beyoncé once at a party, and she told me she watches the show, which was mortifying because of how much Tahani pretends they are best friends. Also, Duchess Meghan of Sussex spoke to me on the phone and said that she watches the show. Obviously, it is the (fictional) rumor that she introduced (Meghan and Harry), so she thanked Tahani for that introduction.

Q: How would you describe Tahani’s journey in this final season?

Jamil: She’s surprisingly name-dropping more than all three (previous) seasons combined. It’s on steroids. But she’s growing up as a person, and we go deeper into her family dynamic in a way that I think people are going to continue to find very relatable. What I love about her story so much is how many people come up to me and tell me that it’s affected the way that they feel about their sibling (relationships).

Q: Has your own outlook on life changed since starting “Good Place,” which revolves around moral philosophy and human nature?

Jamil: Yeah. Mostly I’ve just learned that, you know, Tahani went to hell in part because of her obsession with other people’s opinions, and I don’t want to go to hell. (Laughs.) She ruined her whole life worrying so much about being liked, and that was a great learning curve for me and massively helped me let go of this need I have to be liked. Especially as a woman, there’s a particular expectation that you should be likable to everyone. And it didn’t get Tahani anywhere, so I’m not doing that anymore.

Q: What was the impetus for starting the “I Weigh” movement on Instagram last year?

Jamil: I suffered really badly from eating disorders when I was younger, and now that I’m in this industry that works hard to perpetuate that in young women, I want to do my best to undo it. I know exactly what kind of harm it causes because I was a victim of it, so I kind of also now know how to combat it. I’m able to be this whistleblower in the industry,  and it hasn’t affected my career. So I hope that will be a lesson to other young women who feel they would like to speak out about things: They make you believe it’s going to ruin your career and you’ll lose everything, but speaking out actually empowers you.

"Activism is the No. 1 priority for me," says Jameela Jamil, founder of the "I Weigh" movement, which celebrates accomplishments rather than numbers on a scale. (Photo: Robert Deutsch, USA TODAY)

Q: You successfully lobbied for Instagram to stop targeting ads for weight-loss products and cosmetic procedures to users under 18. What would you like to accomplish next?

Jamil: It’s not enough just to take it off social media – I want it off the internet. I want it to become illegal for minors to be able to consume these products anywhere. It’s not up to Facebook and Instagram: I’m glad they did it, I’m glad they took a stand, and it was important to have that avenue shut down. But we’re reaching epidemic levels of teenage suicide, teenage eating disorders, teenage depression, teenage self-harm and teenage cosmetic surgery, so the government has to do something. So that’s what we’re moving into next. We have the support of Harvard STRIPED (an initiative for the prevention of eating disorders) and other big universities to help us with research, which is exciting, and “I Weigh” is coming off just being an Instagram account and is going to become a full activism platform.

Q: You’ve been critical in the past of the Kardashian sisters, who have promoted appetite suppressant lollipops and meal replacement shakes on Instagram. Would you ever invite them on to your “I Weigh” interview series?

Jamil: Yeah, of course – I have nothing against those girls. They got loads of money and power and could do so much great stuff. I love what Kim does with the justice system. More of that and I’m happy! I think that’s really cool. I just would like to see people use their power in a way that is empowering.

Did Sanaa Lathan Date Her ‘Love & Basketball’ Co-Star?

It’s been almost 20 years since Love & Basketball was released. The film became a cult classic for going against the standard in gender roles and showcasing black love. The relationship between the main characters in the film would become a favorite on-screen couple of fans around the world.

The chemistry was so good between actors Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps that fans assumed the two were indeed an item. Fans have always wished for their on-screen chemistry to be transferred off-screen.

‘Love & Basketball’ becomes a cult classic

Love & Basketball was released in the spring of 2000. The romantic drama starred Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps and tells the story of Quincy McCall (Epps) and Monica Wright (Lathan), two childhood neighbors who bond over their shared love of basketball before falling for each other.

The film grossed a little over $3 million on its first day and over $8 million opening weekend, making it the second-highest-grossing movie opening weekend. It went on to become the ninth highest-grossing for a basketball film.

Love & Basketball well was received by critics but even more loved by audiences, specifically the African-American community. In a 2015 interview with Buzzfeed News, the cast and director spoke about the film’s cultural impact as it related to gender equality and black affluence. “I wanted to put it out in the world that these two characters travel the same way that anybody else travels both in career and in love [despite being Black],” said its director, Gina Prince-Bythewood said.

In an interview with Essence Magazine, Epps and Lathan opened up about the film still registering with audiences so many years later. “It’s so cool and amazing that it has become this beloved film that people love,” Lathan said. “Just last night I went out to dinner and these two girls came up to me and said they grew up on the movie and they are looking for their “Q.”

Did Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps date during ‘Love & Basketball?”

The short answer to that question is yes, but at the time, only Prince-Brythwood was aware. It was important for their secret relationship to remain under the radar as Prince-Brythwood didn’t discover that Lathan and Epps were dating until after they were cast. She told Buzzfeed News in the same 2015 interview that she was nervous about their relationship and how it could affect filming.

“I think if I had known, I don’t know if I would have taken that risk. When people are dating or married, a lot of times they don’t have chemistry on screen. What if they break up midway through shooting? But they were hot. There was this sweetness between them. And I just wanted to watch them.”

The two displayed their love for each other arm and arm on red carpets and at the film’s premiere. They did not speak much publicly about their relationship as they did not want it to interfere with their budding careers. It’s not clear when their relationship started or ended but fans speculate that their relationship lasted a little under two years.

Lathan and Epps eventually split. He went on to marry his previous girlfriend and the mother of his child, singer Keisha Epps. The two have been married for over a decade. Lathan has been linked to a few high profile men since their split, including rapper French Montana. She remains happily single.

Are Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps friends today?

Fans would love for the fictional Monica and Quincy to be an item in real life but that’s not the case for Lathan and Epps. They have, however, remained friendly over the years and reunited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the film in 2015 during the LA Film Festival.

There have been rumors of a sequel but nothing has been confirmed. During a Q&A at the festival, Epps spoke about whether or not he sees one in the future. “Gina and I actually spoke about that and she has this you-don’t-touch-a-classic-thing,” Epps said. “I agree but it’s tempting because it’s like what would the story look like now. The best sequels are when they were in mind during the original when you are searching for the sequel that’s when it doesn’t really work.” Lathan also admitted that she feels the film is “perfect as it is.”

Madame Noire reported in the same year that if a sequel would take place, Epps would want the characters to divorce to reflect the divorce rate in the country. Fans will probably be devastated if their favorite on-screen characters’ love story is tainted as such.

Topless Jeremy McConnell reveals perfect Princess nursery with pregnant girlfriend Katie ahead of birth of baby daughter – The Sun

JEREMY McConnell and pregnant girlfriend Katie McCreath have revealed their baby daughter's nursery – and it's fit for a Princess.

The 29-year-old posed in his Calvin Klein pants alongside his pregnant girlfriend Katie as they showed off their little one's new abode.

The couple are thrilled after renovating their spare room into the perfect nursery, ready for when their new arrival is born in December.

The space has been turned into a girly haven with pink walls and a matching pink rug.

The centrepiece of the nursery is the white vintage cot, which comes complete with a statement headboard.

Their little princess can be sure to get a good kip as it's decked out with plush pink and white cushions wrapped in bows.

The rest of the furniture, including the French-style wardrobe, dresser and change table are also all white to complement the cot.

There is also a grand rocking chair in the corner of the room, where the pair can feed their little one, as well as a stool where Jeremy can be seen giving Katie a foot rub in the lead up to the birth.

There is a swan theme in the room, with a swan's head on the wall by the cot and a white feathered light fitting to match.

The ultra-feminine room, which was designed by luxury nursery furniture brand babeek,  also has a tutu on a stand, next to a toyboy with a soft toy ballerina perched on top.

Jeremy and Katie, who confirmed the happy news that they are expecting their first child together in July and then hosted a gender reveal party the following month, have been busy preparing for their bundle of joy.

They were recently spotted shopping for baby clothes and were seen picking out lots of pink items as they browsed around a store.

Jeremy was also seen looking at a fluffy cream all-in-one.

The tattooed former Celebrity Big Brother star also has a two year-old son, Caben-Albi, from a previous relationship.

Jeremy recently defended himself against trolls who criticised him for not being involved in his son's life, insisting he was a "very loving father" but added that "not every situation can be fixed."

Now Jeremy, who is sober after turning his back on drugs,  is fully focused on the arrival of his little girl as well as his successful new business venture as a director of a Turkish hair transplant clinic.

Jeremy took an interest in hair transplants after having treatments on his face to thicken his beard.

Jeremy recently told us: "I am removing all of my ink on my neck and other silly ones I have put on over the years for my business with Hair of Istanbul.

"It's important to look smart and be taken serious in business so I felt the time was up on silly tattoos."
