All the signs that Stormzy and Maya Jama will rekindle sooner than we think
Former power couple Stormzy and Maya Jama unexpectedly split last August after spending four years together.
Chart-topping rapper Stormzy, 26, and telly and radio presenter Maya, 25, reportedly split up so that they could concentrate on their individual careers.
At the time, they both took the ultimate step in confirming there was no reconciliation by unfollowing each other on Instagram.
But since their split, the pair have given out small signs that they could rekindle again in the future – from both attending the same events to Stormzy insisting he "still loves" Maya, as well as wanting her children.
They've risked colliding again at the same events
Despite the former couple parting their separate ways, they have risked colliding again at several star-studded events – which started weeks after their split.
After they called it quits at the end of August, Stormzy and Maya risked an awkward run-in at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
Although no reports suggested that they actually came face-to-face on that night, they were bound to have crossed each other at some point, as the pair are friendly with the same famous faces.
BBC Radio 1 presenter Maya wowed crowds at the glittering ceremony as she pulled off a sheer, see-through diamante gown.
Meanwhile Stormzy cut a stylish figure in a black suit and was full of smiles.
In recent days, the distant former lovers both attended the 40th anniversary BRIT Awards, although they arrived separately.
Maya oozed sex appeal as she wore a velvet gown, complete with a sultry thigh-slit and off-the-shoulder detailing.
By contrast, Stormzy donned a striking all white ensemble for his turn on the red carpet.
Stormzy poured his heart out in lyrics – and issued a public apology
When news broke that the pair had split, speculation circled that the rapper had cheated on his stunning ex beau.
But Stormzy set the record straight and insisted he didn't cheat on his ex girlfriend, and issued a public apology to her with his track Lessons, following the release of his new album in December.
At the time, Stormzy was doing a lot of interviews, and had said several times: "A public disrespect needs a public apology."
He insists he still wants to marry her and have her children
BRIT award-winning rapper Stormzy recently insisted he still wants to marry the presenter and have her children.
In a YouTube interview with Charlamagne Tha God, he said: "Maya is a G, before me…she's the star girl. She's a phenomenal star."
He continued: "I would love for that to happen, but I don't know…I would love to be the man who she…I would love to do all the things that make it work.
"I want to marry her, I want to have her children. All of that."
They have since made contact – and hint they still are
Stormzy admitted that Lessons was the only way he knew he could reach out to Maya after the split.
A source told The Sun: "He knew that he would bring their relationship centre stage again by releasing a track about it, and he felt it was right to reach out.
"Now they are getting on well again, and their close friends are hoping they might give their relationship another chance.
"It is crystal clear how much Stormzy regrets how he treated Maya and he knows he doesn’t deserve a second chance."
The Own It singer also admitted: "It is me throwing Maya out there as well, that's something we shared on a public forum.
"It was a hot topic and I'm going on the record now and I'm apologising and I'm trying to lay it all bare. I'm trying to be very truthful and very clear in my truth. I'm not trying to shy away from it."
It's all about the trusting of timing
Maya has hinted that timing could play a big part in the former couple getting back together.
She's been open about the heartbreak that the shock split had caused her, and in recent BBC Radio One podcast The Reality Tea, the rising star suggested "they might have needed that to happen" at the time it did.
The star sparked rumours that anything could happen in the future if they trust the timing.
Maya said: "Like just because one person will stay inside and cry during the break-up, the other person, it might have been the right time, like they might have needed that to happen and been really happy about the situation and then you're not going to have the same reaction.
"So I just think, yeah, the Internet is bloody weird and everyone will come to their own assumptions about things."
