Ashley McBryde Debuts New Song ‘Whiskey And Country Music’ At Grand Ole Opry
Ashley McBryde delivered a debut performance of her new song “Whiskey and Country Music” at the Grand Ole Opry last week.
“That’s a new one and I thought there was no finer room in the whole wide world to try out a brand new song, so that’s ‘Whiskey and Country Music,'” she said during the livestream from the Opry stage on February 13. “I didn’t write it by myself, Lord knows we had help. That song is so country it has to drive towards town to go hunting.”
“It never gets old playing the Opry. I’m so happy you’re here with us. Thank you for doing what you gotta do to be here with us, because we do what we gotta do to be here with you, too,” the 37-year-old country music singer-songwriter told the audience.
In the track co-written with Lee Thomas Miller and John Osborne, she sings that whiskey and country music have healing power during tough times.
McBryde also performed “Sparrow” and “First Thing I Reach For” from her recent album Never Will, and hit song “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” in front of a limited-capacity audience.
Her next album, Never Will: Live From A Distance, is scheduled to be released on May 28.
