Beyoncé & Jay-Z’s Daughter Blue Ivy Receives First Grammy Nomination

Beyoncé & Jay-Z‘s daughter Blue Ivy has earned her first Grammy nomination.

The Recording Academy has added Blue Ivy to the 63rd annual Grammy Awards nominees list under the best music video category for Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.”

Blue Ivy provides vocals on the track and also appears in the video and is credited as a featured artist. WizKid, who also features on the song, has also been added to the list.

The Recording Academy confirmed Blue Ivy’s nomination, saying she meets the Grammy rules that say the artist must be credited and recognized as a featured artist and that there must be significant performance and artistic contribution by the said artist.

Blue Ivy, who will turn 9 on January 7, is now among the youngest nominees in Grammy history. The youngest Grammy nominee ever is Leah Peasall, who was just eight when she was nominated for the album of the year category for her role in the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack in 2001.

Blue Ivy won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding duo, group or collaboration for “Brown Skin Girl” on February 21 and a Soul Train Award for video of the year for that video on November 29. She shared both of those awards with her mom, Saint Jhn and WizKid.

“Brown Skin Girl” appears on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift, a 2019 album featuring songs inspired by The Lion King.
