Issa Rae’s Emmys Makeup Has Us Rethinking Every Fall Beauty Trend
This year, the inimitable Issa Rae is nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the 2020 Emmys. This will be the second time that the 35-year-old actor has been nominated for her role in the hit HBO series, Insecure — she was also nominated in 2018 for season three of the show. And well, it's no wonder considering how lovable, relatable, and straight-up hilarious her character is.
As per usual, Rae brought her beauty A-game to the virtual award show, with help from her go-to glam squad: makeup artist Joanna Simkin, hairstylist Felicia Leatherwood, and manicurist Eri Ishizu.
For makeup, she went for a shimmery purple smoky eye featuring deep violet liner and an iridescent lilac shade placed on the center of her lids for extra glamour and dimension. Shifting purple shadow wasn't on our radar for fall beauty trends before, but it most definitely is now. Simkin also added dramatic false lashes by Eyelure to emphasize the eyes even more. As for her face makeup, she used Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation and kept it glowing and simple to let the eyes stand out.
For hair, she also kept it fairly straightforward to let the focus be on the bold eye look. Leatherwood pulled the star's hair back into a sleek updo that shows off her gorgeous features. In regards to nails, Ishizu gave Rae long extensions for an ultra-glamourous feel.
It's no surprise that the Insecure star served all the glamour at tonight's Emmys. If you ask us, her beauty look deserves an award of its own.
