James Blunt, 47, has taken to Twitter to address his critics following his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing. The singer performed his hit song Goodbye My Lover ahead of this week’s elimination.

However, some viewers were far from pleased by the guest appearance and made it clear on Twitter.

webspressouk tweeted: “Am I the only one disappointed that all he did was play the piano, sing, and wave at the end.”

hantsarchitect said: “As he was about to come on Strictly, my wife just said, ‘I don’t know whether I like @JamesBlunt or not’

“To be updated……”

In a separate tweet, they added: “…she’s still not sure at 2 mins in.”

James, who has become a Twitter staple thanks to his humorous tweets, did not miss a chance to reply to the suspenseful tweet.

He simply stated: “Waits patiently…”

The musician later retweeted a tweet from LucyMaxwell that read: “James Blunt voice goes right through me #pressesmute @bbcstrictly”

In response, he said: “Coz you’re so hollow, baby.” (sic)

However, some Strictly viewers strongly disagreed with those slamming James’ performance.

Claireybump typed: “Hahah! We were just discussing how epic your sense of humour is with our daughter.

“You were great on strictly but even better now you’ve proved me right!”

kinkykiedis added: “Wonderful performance James.

“I just lost a dear friend this morning and this song choice was perfect for how I am feeling right now.

“RIP to all those gone but never forgotten. #RemembranceDay”

emmako said: “You were mesmerising James.

“Have always loved that song.

“Thank you (tho I’m crying a bit too)”

StevieM1970 added: “Absolutely stunning performance on #StrictlyComeDancing tonight young man.

“So much emotion.”
