Jeff Hordley, 51, who plays Cain Dingle on Emmerdale, and his wife Zoe Henry, 47, often give fans an insight into life working on their allotment. The Rhona Goskirk actress didn’t appear impressed after the scorching heatwave the UK experienced last month.
Zoe took to Twitter and asked for help from fans after the actress revealed she needed help with her vegetable patch.
The married couple are keen gardeners and regularly share their impressive results with the various fruits and vegetables they have successfully grown.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, Zoe revealed she was having trouble with her cucumbers.
In view of her 103,000 followers, the Emmerdale star penned: “Cucumber experts! Why are our leaves turning yellow?
“Too much/too little water maybe? Help!”
Fans were quick to offer their advice as they detailed to Zoe what the potential issue could be.
One wrote: “I always think it’s too much sun, they burn. Too much water usually makes them go bad, not yellow. Could also be too little water/too much sun, but to me, it only happens to the cucumbers I have that get no shade all day.”
Zoe replied: “Thank you.”
Another remarked: “Magnesium deficiency.”
“The reason for yellowing of leaves is that you have a watering problem, that means you’re either giving too much or too little water,” a third wrote.
A fourth agreed: “The plant is putting more energy into the cucumber than the leaves, calcium yes magnesium sulphate or epsom salts will green them back, we do the same with our shrubs at work if looking pale we add a slow release fertilizer plug to the pots.”
Zoe responded: “Thank you. Used Epsom salt’s with Friday’s water, they’re already looking better.” (sic)

The Rhona Goskirk star has previously opened up about how working on their allotment helps Jeff’s chronic health battle.
He was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when he was 18.
Speaking on Loose Women, Zoe explained the benefits of gardening.
She said: “There’s a lot to be said about mental health and having your hands in the soil – that’s a big one for me.
“For Jeff, it’s the health benefits of eating what we’ve grown.”
The couple married in 2003 and have two children together Violet and Stan.
The family resides in the Yorkshire Dales and regularly tend to their allotment.
Emmerdale airs on ITV at 7.30pm.
