Love Island’s former stars issue survival guide urging newbies to be ruthless
Love Island 's former stars have offered up a candid survival guide urging the newbies to be ruthless if they want to win.
The villa has moved to South Africa for the first ever winter series with a brand new batch of contestants looking for love, fame and a £50,000 prize.
Now the stars of the 2019 series have spoken out to offer guidance to the new Islanders, with Maura Higgins insisting they must be clever and put themselves first if they want to win.
She told Closer magazine: "You do need to be ruthless in the villa. You need to have balls – go in and go for what you want, and don't back down.
"That's what I did. Be yourself – that's the best thing you can do."
Amy Hart, who quit the show after getting dumped by Maura's man Curtis Pritchard, has also told the new cast not to make the same mistakes she did.
She insists Love Islanders shouldn't take the process so seriously and need to just have fun.
Amy told the magazine: "I struggled in the villa. i wish I'd taken more time to enjoy it, so I'd tell the new islanders just to enjoy the moment.
"Don't do what I did and sit around over-thinking everything. You're going for the experience, just enjoy it."
Amy and Curtis seemed to be one of the strongest couples in the villa until they were hit by the curse of Casa Amour.
Ballroom dancer Curtis had his head turned, and ended up dumping Amy when he realised his feelings for her weren't strong enough to keep him fro being tempted by other women.
Maura then confessed her crush on newly-single Curtis and made a move on him, and their blossoming romance prompted Amy to quit.
After Amy left the villa, Maura and Curtis grew close and developed a relationship which has lasted since they left the villa.
They are now one of the last remaining couples still together.
Maura and Curtis didn't win, but they managed to come in third behind winners Amber and Greg, and runners-up Molly-Mae and Tommy.
Love Island continues tonight on ITV2.
