Matt and Dan were one of the few couples that had an instant spark at the altar and have stayed together since the show finished.

Dan disclosed that after years of bad dates, he was thrilled to have gone on the E4 show and that he couldn’t ask for a “better result.”

“I lived in London for 8 years – I was thinking I want to find a man, I want someone who has good laughs and I was actually finding that hard to get at home so I applied for the show," he explained.

“It turned out really well for me and I couldn’t have asked for a better result.”

Matt explained that he was in a similar position, adding: “I’d had quite a number of relationships that hadn’t worked out.

"It was an absolute shock actually when I found out I got picked for the show. Here we are 6 months later now and I’ve got the man I want to spend the rest of my life with and that’s amazing.”

Earlier this week, Dan told OK! in an exclusive interview that it was a “privilege” to be the first gay couple on the show with his husband, Matt.

The only hiccup the couple faced was deciding where they’d live as Dan is from Country Antrim and Matt’s family is all based in Leeds.

Matt assured the This Morning hosts that both families embraced their decision to move to Ireland where they're settling into their new life.

“All my family and friends they’re all really supportive and they all love Dan as well," he said. “They’re just so happy for me to go through this entire process and find that person I want to spend the rest of my life with.

“It’s just incredible, so everyone’s buzzing.”

Even though it has been smooth sailing, Dan joked he had to bake his way to Matt’s mum’s heart.

“I think your mum maybe was a little bit tentative at the start, but I’ve made some scones, I’ve hopefully brought her round.

“I baked my way into her heart and hopefully she’ll keep me in the fam. Can but try.”

Since filming finished the couple revealed they’ve spent “pretty much all their time together” citing their new relationship as a “rollercoaster” that’s only made them stronger as a couple.

Phillip went on to mention Luke and Morag's explosive split – which Matt labelled "inevitable".

He admitted: “I think that was inevitable. I’m really, really close with Luke he’s a really good friend of mine.

“To watch their journey, I mean I know some of it isn’t shown they did have some really, really good times as well during the whole process.

“But I think they were just two very, very different people in very different things and we just had to watch that transpire in front of us.”

Explaining how they've managed to make things work, Dan told Holly: “I think we kind of created our own little bubble so we were very sort of a third party.

“We were at the dinner parties; we would just be giggling to each other getting a bit drunk as you do and kind of just watching it all unfold.

“We didn’t have any drama of our own and kind of just a bit – cheesy I guess – but we were all loved-up in our own little bubble and kind of just watching it all like a film really," he added, before Holly remarked that the couple seem “as much in love now" as they were on the programme. were”
