NCIS viewers adored Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo in the long-running crime series on CBS. However, many may have been left keen to know more about him, including how old he is and what he’s up to now.

Weatherly first appeared as Tony in the pilot episode of NCIS alongside other cast members Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette.

He went on to star in 306 episodes of the show before his exit in 2016.

Tony was one of the team’s field agents and became known not only for his stellar crime-solving skills but also for his romantic escapades.

This includes being part of the show’s longest-running will they or won’t they romance with Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).

However, fans will be keen to know a bit more about the actor and how he got started in show business.

How old is Michael Weatherly?

Weatherly is 52-years-old, having been born on July 8, 1968.

The actor began his life in New York City before moving to Fairfield in Connecticut.

The star then moved to Boston where he briefly attended Boston University before he left to pursue acting.

Weatherly’s first major role was on The Cosby Show where he played Theo Huxtable’s (played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner) roommate.

This helped the actor land his first major role as Cooper Alden in the soap opera Loving.

He met his first wife Amelia Heinle on the set of the show.

The pair were married from 1995 until 1997 and share one child together, August Weatherly.

Weatherly moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s where he landed a few television roles.

This included appearing on FOX’s Significant Others with Jennifer Garner and in the first series of Charmed.

He came to prominence in Dark Angel, which he starred in with Jessica Alba.

Weatherly appeared in two seasons of the show and got engaged to Alba during this period.

They split in 2003, which was the same year as he landed his part on NCIS.

The actor left NCIS during its 13th season but has been seen on screen plenty of times since.

This is because he leads the series Bull as Dr Jason Bull, which is currently airing its fifth season.

Weatherly also remarried during his time starring in NCIS, tying the knot with internist Dr Bojan Jankovic in 2009.

They now live in Manhattan with their two children, Olivia and Liam.

Weatherly has previously opened up about aging in interviews.

He told Watch In 2014: “I never think of the future or the past too much. To be present makes me much happier.

“I keep my ambition local, I love having my family around, I love my little triumphs at work, and in general my life’s not nearly as out of control as it once was.

“I’m mellowing in my old age.”

NCIS season 18 airs on CBS on Tuesdays and FOX UK on Fridays.
