Queen’s ‘Greatest Hits’ Finally Reaches Billboard 200 Top 10

Queen‘s Greatest Hits has finally reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200, 39 years and 1 month after its release.

Greatest Hit jumped from No. 36 to No. 8 on the 200 chart dated November 28. The jump was driven by a vinyl sale on November 14 at Walmart, where all vinyl albums in-store were sold at a discounted price of $15.

In the week ending November 19, Greatest Hits sold 24,000 copies across all formats, with vinyl LPs accounting for 23,000 of that sum.

Greatest Hits was first released in October 1981 and has been reissued several times. The highest position the record had previously achieved was No. 11 on October 10, 1992 after a 1992 edition of the album was released.

The album has now taken the second longest time to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The record among all albums is held by Nat King Cole, whose The Christmas Song took 55 years to finally reach the top 10.
