Thrifty mum shares £4 buy which has saved her £500 on washing as she begs everyone to make the switch | The Sun
MANY people are looking for new ways to save money on bills – and it turns out you could save hundreds with a clever laundry trick.
Money-saving expert Holly Smith revealed her hack on ITV’s This Morning and said she’s so far saved over £500.
Holly, who runs Coupon Queen, told hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond that instead of forking out for pricey detergent, she has switched to an EcoEgg.
The EcoEgg is a plastic-filled egg with pellets that replaces the job of both detergent and fabric softener.
Although it costs £8 to buy, it will cover you for 70 washes, and you can get refills that do 50 washes for just £4.
Holly explained: “I was calculating this earlier and since I started using this in 2018, I've managed to save over £500.

“You know when you just throw a liquid tab into the washing machine, well you just throw that in, that's all you need and that will last 70 washes."
Tesco is currently selling EcoEggs, and the website says: “The EcoEgg Laundry Egg is a complete replacement for laundry detergent and fabric conditioner and was originally developed for those with sensitive skin.

They have a number of scents, including Spring Blossom, which is “lightly infused with natural fragrance oils, leaving a delicate, floral scent on your laundry.”
Holly added: "It's brilliant, I've got two children under two and you know that little bit of sick up, or you just chuck something in, you know what it's like, I don't want to put a full load on, whack one of them in, they are amazing."
