Boy, 16, dies falling inside Salford college after ‘medical episode’

A teenage boy has died falling at a college in Salford after suffering from a 'medical episode'.

The 16-year-old fell from a floor at the UTC MediaCity building yesterday afternoon just before 3.30pm.

Ambulance crews rushed the teenager to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

But he sadly later died.

There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy's death, a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman told Manchester Evening News.

A file will now be passed to the coroner.

Specialist officers are supporting the teen's family.

A GMP spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 3.30pm on Monday, June 3, police were called by the ambulance service to reports that a boy was having a medical episode at a college in media city.

"Officers attended and the 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and file will be passed to the coroner.

"Specialist officers are continuing to support the boy’s family."

The college, based in MediaCityUK, is a University Technical College for students aged 14–18, which opened in September 2015.

It specialises in developing students' professional digital and media skills.
