Visitors to Dogstival will have the opportunity to lie in The Big Bliss Bolster Bed, which was made using an amount of fabric larger than the average floorspace of a two bed flat. Charley Chau, the designers of the bed, have claimed that it is “one of the biggest dog beds ever made” – giving pet lovers the ultimate comfort with their beloved animal.
The bed measures more than 2.5m by 2.1m, which is larger than a human Super King.
It was made using over 75sqm of fabric, all stitched together with 175m of seams – which is bigger than the Blackpool Tower.
The brand new bed will be on display for both humans and dogs alike to test out this weekend at the Dogstival festival.
Each “bed hop” will give people the opportunity to donate to the Pets As Therapy charity, meaning the pleasure also comes with a good cause.
Visitors will also be treated to celebrity vet Dr Scott Miller, who will host Q&A sessions from the giant bed on both days of the festival.
Charley Chau’s original, dog-sized bed launched in 2020 to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary.
As with the original, The Big Bliss Bolster Bed was made in Britain at the workshop of one of the family-run manufacturers.
The brand promises to give owners a luxury experience, with the first bed of this kind being gilled with ethically-sourced duck feathers for canines to nestle into.
It was designed with practicality in mind, as it is machine washable, has removable covers, waterproof liners and replacement spares.
It also holds a special meaning to Christine and Jenny Chau, the sisters behind the brand, as the purchase of a poorly made dog bed was what pushed them to start designing their own.
This year will see the first Dogstival festival ever and Charley Chau is hopeful its giant bed will be one of the stars of the show.
It will take place on June 5 and 6 in Burley Park, New Forest, promising to give both owners and dogs an experience to remember.
