Get Meghan Markles Coastal Grandma look at home with these top interior tips

There’s a hot new lifestyle trend taking over Tik Tok this summer – may we introduce you to ‘Coastal Grandmother’…

California-based TikToker Lex Nicoleta, 26 coined the ‘Coastal Grandmother’ expression to describe a look that embraces elegant coastal living. Think elegant white, linen shirts, straw hats, palazzo pants and a nautical inspired colour palette.

Meghan Markle has been leading the way for some time now with her oversized shirts, long wafty skirts or relaxed wide-legged trousers and wide-brimmed sun hats in natural, cooling hues of pale blue, white and cream.

And when celebrating her daughter Lilibet’s first birthday at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, during the Sussex family’s whistle stop visit to the UK for Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, she was spotted in an Instagram snap in a pair of striped, linen palazzo trousers.

It’s a vibe that conjures up a vision of solo walks along the golden sands of Long Island – or taking a relaxing stroll in the garden with a glass of chilled Chardonnay after a trip to the local Farmer’s market!

The aspirational look says “I’m living my best life in a beachfront Hamptons home, growing my own produce and cooking healthy dishes in my stylish shaker style kitchen”.

The aesthetic trend has been growing steadily, and harks back to the look of Hollywood dame’s Diane Keaton in As Good As It Gets (2003) and Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia (2008). More recently other actresses have been nailing the look, including Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez.

But it’s not all about the clothes you wear, you can unleash your inner CG when thinking of your interior style too, turning your home into a Nancy Meyers film set.
