Here's Why the Duggar Family Doesn't Believe in Dancing
The Duggar children were raised with an extremely strict set of rules. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, who are parents to 19 children, have instilled certain values and rules in their children that some see as too controlling. However, it’s the way of the life the children were raised with, and Jessa and Jill Duggar have said they wouldn’t have it any other way. But one intense rule the Duggars have to follow is that they’re not allowed to dance — here’s why.
The Duggars have very strict rules they must follow
It’s no secret that the Duggars were raised in a very intensely religious household. Michelle and Jim Bob made a strict set of rules for their children to follow growing up, and most of those rules were based on living for God and suppressing promiscuity. One of the most infamous Duggar rules is that the kids are not allowed to have premarital sex. To prevent this, they weren’t allowed to have private conversations with their significant others (the Duggars’ parents were always cc’d on text messages), and they couldn’t have chest-to-chest contact until marriage — side hugs only. But the most bizarre rule of them all might be that the Duggars were not allowed to dance.
The Duggars can’t dance — it can promote temptation
According to Michelle and Jim Bob, dancing can be sensual and can bring out certain temptations. For this reason, the Duggars were not allowed to dance because they wanted to keep their lives as innocent as possible. Plus, Jessa told E! News that modern day music often promotes sex, which is why the Duggars only play gospel music. It’s unclear if the kids were allowed to dance when they were little, but it seems that nobody was ever allowed to dance around their significant other or at a public event.
The Duggar children are encouraged to have ‘lots of sex’ once they wed
Interestingly, the Duggars aren’t opposed to sex — it just has to be after marriage. “Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love,” Michelle Duggar once said about her husband. “You always need to be available when he calls.” While that may seem entirely outdated for any modern woman, the Duggars are no ordinary family. The women typically only care for the kids (and please their husbands), while the men go out and make the money. The Duggars also aren’t allowed to read any kind of romance novels for fear of temptation.
The Duggars aren’t required to follow their parents’ rules once they start families of their own
Although Michelle and Jim Bob enforced strict rules on theirchildren growing up, those rules don’t necessarily apply to the family membersonce they’ve married. While Michelle and Jim Bob would like their kids tofollow all the rules, they can’t force them to do so once their kids havefamilies of their own. This explains why Jinger Duggar wearspants and tank tops these days but wouldn’t be caught doing so growing up.While the parents have tried to instill intense values on their children, it’salso nice to see the kids having minds of their own once they leave the house.
