Holby City spoilers: Cameron and Skylar's jobs under threat after fatal mistake

Creepy Cameron (Nic Jackman) was at it again in tonight’s Holby City – making sure others took the blame for his mistakes.

In this case it was new F1 Skylar Bryce (Phoebe Pryce), whose reward for doing some clever diagnostic detective work was to see her patient die anyway, because she gave him antibiotics as instructed by Cameron.

But when it turned out that the patient was fatally allergic to the antibiotics, Cameron made sure the blame was placed squarely on the junior doctor’s shoulders.

There was a moment when Cameron let his human side peep out. This was shortly after he went all smarmy when he found out that Skylar is chairman of the board Michael (Elliot Levey)’s step-daughter. She told him that Michael puts pressure on her: ‘He wants to prove I’m not up to it.’

Cameron sympathised with that, because of his own background of being in his mother’s shadow. His sympathy lasted only until Skylar started doing well and was called a good doctor by her patient, because he can’t cope with not being top dog. But Max (Jo Martin) has now initiated an investigation and has warned both Skylar and Cameron that at least one of them will be leaving for good.

Could this be the end for Creepy Cameron, or will he manage to pin the blame on Skylar?

Poor Max is spending most of her time these days investigating various staff misdemeanours, because as well as having Skylar and Cameron to worry about she was also on the hunt to find out which Darwin staff member had been using drugs on duty. This meant that Kian (Ramin Karimloo) spent most of the episode in a nervous sweat waiting to be found out, apart from when he was stealing urine samples from patients because he knew his own would test positive.

Unfortunately he chose to take the pee from a patient who was abusing steroids. Fortunately the patient was also a dab hand at urine substitution, so Kian’s sample was clean. Even more fortunately it turned out that an agency nurse tested positive, which was enough to satisfy Jac (Rosie Marcel) and Max that the culprit had been found.

Thank goodness, though, that Kian finally decided to come clean about not being clean to Jac. She told him she’d have to tell Max, but she didn’t because she loves him and he’s all hunky and tattooey and that. So she’s told him he has to live with her while she manages his withdrawal. Good luck with that.

Elsewhere, Alex (Miles Mitchell) impressed Donna (Jaye Jacobs) by getting her tickets for a band her daughter Mia is desperate to see. Beka (Francesca Barrett) – currently convalescing in a bed on Keller and being worryingly attended to by Jodie (Sian Reese-Williams) – noticed that there was a spark between Donna and Alex and there really is. ‘You look so much like him,’ Donna told Xavier’s brother.

A bit of a mixed compliment there, really. Will she ever be able to get over the ‘Zav’s brother’ part and see him as just plain old lovely Alex?
