She was born in Croydon, England on September 22, 1969.

After gaining an English degree, Sue threw herself into a career in the media.

She had been part of her university drama club where she met Mel Giedroyc and they formed a comedy duo.

The pair quickly gathered success and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

They began a career in TV by writing for the series French & Saunders where they would occasionally appear on the show.

Sue first started presenting in 1997 when the duo co-hosted the Channel 4 shows Light Lunch and Late Lunch.

Over the years, Sue has added to her fortune with appearances on programmes including Mock the Week, Celebrity Big Brother and Have I Got News for You.

Sue had stints hosting television quiz shows for BBC including Good Evening, Rockall and Never Mind the Full Stops.

The TV star is perhaps best known as a presenter on The Great British Bake Off, which she did alongside Mel.

The pair first took on the job in 2010 and hosted the annual competition until 2016.

They gave up the gig when the show moved to Channel 4 and Sue continues to work mostly with the BBC.

Sue is a panel member on Radio 4’s The News Quiz and Just a Minute.

Since February this year, the comedian has hosted the Radio 4 series Nature Table.

She continued to build her bank account when she opened up about her life in an autobiographical travel book in 2018.

The book, East of Croydon: Blunderings Through India and South East Asia, was shortlisted at the 2018 National Book Awards for the Autobiography of the Year.
