Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Tielemans prefers Gunners deal to United, Lucas Paqueta battle, Gabriel Jesus stunning debut | The Sun

GABRIEL JESUS has made his debut for Arsenal – and took just 90 SECONDS to open up his account.

The Brazil star came off the bench to notch in the lively 5-3 win at Nurnberg.

On the transfer front, the Gunners have received a mega boost with Youri Tielemans reportedly having his heart set on moving to London rather than Manchester.

That leaves Arsenal increasingly confident of getting their man, who has rejected all contract offers from Leicester.

The North Londoners are also reportedly keen on signing Lyon's Lucas Paqueta, who Mikel Arteta is said to be pushing hard to get – with Newcastle also interested.

    Arsenal receive Martinez transfer blow

Arsenal's pursuit of Ajax star Lisandro Martinez is doomed because he wants to join Man United, according to reports.

Arsenal submitted a £38m bid for the defender, but his heart's set on a move to Old Trafford, football journalist Mike Verweij claims.

He said, via Soccer News: "But at some point a player also has something to say. He was once signed for seven million euros, can earn five or six times more at Manchester United, so at some point it will become untenable. He wants to go there and that has nothing to do with Ajax.”

“Eventually he will leave, I think. I would like to say that Ajax is currently saying that a departure is not negotiable. Also for this price. Manchester United will have to go up even further.”

    Jesus keen on Nkketiah partnership

Gabriel Jesus has revealed it was "so good" to play alongside Eddie Nketiah in Arsenal's win over Nurnberg.

Nketiah was on hand to assist new team-mate Jesus who bagged a brace on his debut.

And Jesus was full of praise for Nketiah when the game was over.

He beamed: "It was so good to play with Eddie.

"We’re both together and make short passes that’s good. Two strikers there is a little bit different. We have a lot of qualities and it was so good to play with him.”

    Arteta's Jesus and Nketiah hope

Mikel Arteta is relishing the partnership Gabriel Jesus builds with Eddie Nketiah next season.

The pair linked up for one of Jesus' debut goals as the Gunners trounced Nurnberg 5-3.

And their connection left Arteta vying for more in the upcoming campaign.

Arteta said: "The understanding with Eddie as well has been really good.

"It’s something that we want to have as an option this year especially with five subs. We have other alternatives and it’s great that they can do it together."

    Arteta remains coy on Tielemans

Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out a move for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with Tielemans this summer.

But Arteta remained tight-lipped when asked about Arsenal's interest in the Belgium midfielder.

He said: "We never talk about players that are not ours.

"As I said before we can improve the team, we are still in the market and are going to try to do it, but we are not going to go to any specific names."

Arsenal flops 'highest-paid in Serie A'

Ex-Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey are two of the highest-paid stars in the Serie A.

Sanchez, who now plays for Inter Milan, rakes in a whopping 10 MILLION annually, according to Tancredi Palmeri.

This puts the Chilean second on the list behind Juventus ace Matthijs de Ligt.

And De Ligt's Juve counterpart Ramsey still earns an eye-watering £6.9m each year despite being surplus to requirements in Turin.

Juve are desperate to get Ramsey off their books this summer but have found it difficult to do so thus far.

The 31-year-old was on the brink of a move to Fatih Karagumruk, however, the move collapsed at the last minute.

    Arsenal 'can win Premier League'

Arsenal can win the league next season, according to Mohamed Elneny.

The Gunners could only manage a fourth spot finish in the competition last season.

But Elneny reckons the Gunners can all the way next term following a busy transfer market which has seen them recruit Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, Matt Turner, and Gabriel Jesus.

Elneny said after the Gunners crushed Nurnberg 5-3: "I think we pushed really hard to be top four last season but unlucky we didn’t make it.

"But this season we go again, and we try to win the league, to try to do as much as we can to put this Arsenal football club to the place they deserve."

    Alex Song admits wasting money

Alex Song has owned up to being a "waster" during his time at Arsenal – and joining Barcelona purely for the money.

The ex-Gunner said: "I would go to training and see Thierry Henry – the King – turn up in an absolute gem of a car. I told myself I wanted the same car at all costs.

"I went to the dealership, signed the papers and arranged to pay for it by standing order – and just like that I had the same car as The King.

"But I swear that I had to hand the car back inside two months. All my money was going on filling it with petrol.

"I told them: 'Give me a Toyota – this car's too much for me.'

"When I next went to training Thierry asked me: 'Where's your car, son?' I told him it's on a higher level than me.

"During my entire time at Arsenal I couldn't even save £100,000, while people thought I must be a millionaire."

    Martinez blow for Arsenal

Arsenal's hopes of landing Ajax star Lisandro Martinez have been dealt a huge blow by Man United.

Bothe the Prem giants are trying to lure the defender to their respective clubs.

But United have put themselves in pole position pacing a higher bid for the Argentine than Arsenal's.

The Red Devils' offer of £42.5million is closer to Ajax's valuation of £45m, which the Gunners are yet to match.

    GOOD MORNING GOONERS

Arsenal kicked off the pre-season in style as they scored a flurry of second half goals to beat Nurnberg 5-3.

Fans were concerned at Kieran Tierney’s 30 min substitution but it’s all part of Mikel Arteta’s plan.

But it was boss Arteta easing Tierney back in his first match after three months out following knee surgery.

Gabriel Jesus lit up his Arsenal debut with a stunning double as excited Gunners fans were given a tantalising glimpse into the future.

The new boy scored after just 90 SECONDS of being on the pitch in a Gunners shirt.

And though it was only a pre-season friendly against opposition from the German second division, the £45million striker’s immediate impact already suggests he could be one of the signings of the summer.

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a £34million offer to bring AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer back to the Emirates.

The 24-year-old featured once for the Gunners first team during the 2015-16 season, before being sold to Italian side Empoli in 2017.

    United continue chase for Martinez

Man Utd have stepped up their pursuit of Arsenal target Lisandro Martinez.

The 24-year-old Argentine centre-back is wanted by Mikel Arteta.

But United’s new offer beats those put in by the Gunners and is close to the Dutch club’s £45m asking price.

Ajax are mulling over the bid but could try to start a bidding war between the Prem rivals in the hope of getting a bigger fee.

Martinez’s strong links with his old boss Ten Hag could give United the edge.

    Tierney's 30 minute cameo

Fans were concerned at Kieran Tierney's 30 min substitution but it's all part of Mikel Arteta's plan.

Tierney sparked more moans and groans from Arsenal fans as the injury-plagued left-back was taken off just half an hour into Saturday's 5-3 friendly win over Nurnberg.

But it was boss Arteta easing Tierney back in his first match after three months out following knee surgery.

One supporter pointed out: "He came off in the 30th min exactly and he did the same thing last pre season I assume its just to give players some game time he look fine when I watching the game "

Some noted that Tierney warmed down at half-time – suggesting his early withdrawal was all part of his fitness master-plan.

    Bennacer's time at Milan

Arsenal lived to regret letting Bennacer leave before as his excellent displays for Empoli saw him earn a move to AC Milan two years later.

The Algeria international has since become a key member for the Rossoneri.

In three years for the Serie A giants, Bennacer has featured in 105 games in all competitions.

Including 40 last season as Milan won their first Scudetto title since 2011.

Merse backs Lazio ace for Arsenal

Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to sign long-term Man Utd target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

In his column for the Daily Star Merson wrote: “Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is the player I would go for.

    “I think Milinkovic-Savic is a lovely player. A really top-drawer player.

“The way he played for Lazio last season I personally think he is the best midfield player in Italy.

“I know Manchester United have been linked with him in the past, but why there isn’t a queue of clubs lining up to buy the Serbian, I do not know.

“I think a lot of clubs are missing a trick.”
