Dion Waiters’ mom slams ‘gummie-seizure’ allegations as ‘fake news’
Dion Waiters’ mom is jumping to the Miami Heat guard’s defense, slamming reports that her son was sickened by “gummies” as “fake news”
“Please don’t believe the rumors the media will report fake news to get clicks and likes,” Waiters’ mom, Monique Brown, wrote on Instagram Saturday following news the Heat player had a seizure on the team plane Thursday after eating too many candies.
“Thanks to all who reach out to us concerning @waiters3,” she wrote. “He’s good . . . we appreciate it.”
Waiters, meanwhile, has been quiet so far about the allegations made by Miami radio host Andy Slater.
“Waiters overdosed on ‘gummies’ sources say, and was passed out when plane landed,” Slater tweeted. “He had a seizure when he was finally woken up, I’m told.”
Waiters, 27, was benched Friday in the Heat’s game against the Lakers due to an “illness.” He’s missed a total of nine games this year following a suspension.
Team reps did not respond to requests for comment from The Post.
