Longchamp Tips: Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runners and riders – Your pinstickers' guide to Sunday's big race

ENABLE can end her career on a high by winning a brilliant third Arc.

John Gosden has trained his superstar mare to the minute for this challenge and the opposition isn’t as hot as it might be.

Last year’s third Sottsass will relish these conditions and tuned up with an excellent effort in Ireland last time.

There’s no Love for Aidan O’Brien but he has a big chance with Mogul.

He got the better of German Derby winner In Swoop here last time and both three-year-old's can figure.

Gosden has another chance of a place at least with Stradivarius who will be doing his best at the finish.

PERSIAN KING – 3/5 stars

KING sting. Top-class miler who landed his second C&D Group 1 last time in style. Arc king Andre Fabre says he’ll stay but soft ground isn’t ideal and stamina must be a doubt.

ROYAL rumbled. Modest performer who came up short at Group 2 level last time and is way short of this class.

WAY TO PARIS – 1 star

WAY off. Finished 11th in this two years ago and put in a modest display here last time. Won the prestigious Grand Prix De Saint Cloud in June but needs another big step forward.

JAPAN – 2 stars

JAPANNED. Won the Grand Prix De Paris here last season but has been below par this term including at Leopardstown latest. Likes soft ground and stays well but needs very best.

SOVEREIGN – 1 star

SOV target. Shock winner of last year’s Irish Derby but hasn’t fired this season and struggled in the Irish St Leger latest. Hard to fancy on that showing.

STRAD all over. Superstar stayer who loved the mud when hammering his Ascot Gold Cup rivals. Followed up at Goodwood and went well in a Group 2 here last time. Ground will bring his stamina into play and he’s an each-way hope.

SOTTSASS – 4 stars

SASS a chance. Third in this last year when soft ground suited and warmed up with a solid fourth at Leopardstown when 1m2f looked too short. Trained for today and can hit the podium again.

ENABLE – 5 stars

GOLDEN girl. Gunning for third Arc and has been trained for this ever since she finished a close second 12 months ago. Has a Group 1 win in soft ground on her CV and we know the track suits. This isn’t a vintage running of this race and she can win it.

DEIRDRE – 1 star

DEIR me. Group 1 performer over 1m2f but has been poor both starts this season and is used to much faster conditions than this. Needs a big personal best.

GOLD TRIP – 3 stars

GOLD star. Has few miles on the clock and improved over this trip when third here last time. Has won on soft ground and capable of improvement. One of the better outsiders.

CHACHNAK – 1 star

NOT the Nak. Scrambled home in a Group 3 here last time over 1m2f after struggling in the French Derby. This looks much too hot.

IN SWOOP – 3 stars

IN frame. Won the German Derby on just his third run and ran Mogul close over course and distance. Likes it soft and open to improvement so has to be on the shortlist.

MOGUL – 4 stars

MOG no mug. Personal best when winning the Grand Prix De Paris here ahead of In Swoop last time. This is tougher again but he’s capable of better. Stamina test should help and won’t be far away.

SERPENTINE – 3 stars

Runaway Derby winner who has been supplemented for €72,000 and is likely to blast off from the front again after a modest midfield effort here last time. Should stay and place shout.
