Man Utd to offer Harry Maguire bumper pay-rise on £189,000-a-week contract after becoming key man under Solskjaer
MANCHESTER UNITED have told Harry Maguire they want to offer him a bumper new contract.
It is as a reward for establishing himself as one of the key players at Old Trafford.
Centre-half Maguire still has three years left to run on the £189,000-a-week deal he signed when he joined United from Leicester for £85million in 2019.
But since his arrival the 28-year-old has developed into one of the most influential figures around the club on the back of being made captain.
And the Sheffield-born star is now seen as vital to the Red Devils planning over the coming years.
So United bosses have approached Maguire to open early negotiations over a new long-term contract, which will ensure he is tied down to the club for the next five years.
It will also see a big increase on his existing deal to ensure he is one of the highest paid at the Theatre of Dreams, in line with other senior stars.
Since his move, United have handed a bumper new deal to Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea worth £375,000 a week.

While Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are both understood to be earning close to double the money Maguire is on.
United want to redress the balance by coming up with a new package in the region of £300,000 a week.
They hope this will satisfy Maguire and ensure he commits the remainder of his top-level career to the club.
United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, two points off table toppers Chelsea.
