Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Real to sign Pogba 'for FREE', Declan Rice 'wanted for £70m', Haaland could join in January

PAUL POGBA has made a stunning start to the season for Manchester United, but that doesn't mean he will definitely be staying at the club.

Real Madrid have reportedly raised the money to sign the Frenchman by selling Martin Odegaard to Arsenal.

Meanwhile Man Utd are said to be willing to bid for Declan Rice, but only if West Ham's asking price drops from £100m to a figure around £60m or £70m.

And the race for Erling Haaland is set to hot up in January, with his £64m release clause kicking in on September 1.

    PAW IMPERSONATION OF A HARDMAN

Manchester United's legendary hardman Roy Keane showed off his cuddly side by dressing up as a character from popular children's TV show PAW Patrol.

The 50-year-old has developed a reputation for his no-nonsense punditry style but delights fans with his comical Instagram posts.

And his latest upload has seem him dress up as animated puppy Chase alongside two of his young relatives, thought to be his grandchildren.

Captioning the snap of him in a giant dog costume, Keane quipped he's only doing it to pay for his pool heating bill.

He joked: "Available for party hire. I don’t like parties or kids but the pool needs heating."

Piers Morgan was quick to comment four laughing face emojis on the post with Keane's fans loving the picture.

One messaged: "Who knew Roy Keane had a soft side."

    MARTIAL FLAW

Anthony Martial has been slammed by pundits for his performance in Manchester United's 1-1 draw at Southampton.

The Red Devils equalled Arsenal's record of 27 away Premier League games unbeaten by avoiding defeat, but Martial failed to catch the eye.

The 25-year-old netted just four times in the Premier League last season, and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

He managed just 58 minutes before being hooked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at St. Mary's and faces a battle for playing time with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Martial has been at the club since an initial £36million switch from Monaco that could eventually rise to £54million.

And former professional Jamie O'Hara told talkSPORT breakfast: "Martial was shocking, it was a really bad performance from him.

"He just plays like he’s not bothered whether he plays well or not. It’s a weird attitude to have.

"When I used to go on a football pitch, I was just obsessed with trying to be the best player out there.

"Martial just plays like he doesn’t care whether he’s good or not. It’s just it’s weird how he plays because he’s got so much talent.

"But it’s not good enough, he’s miles off it when you compare him and Lukaku, they’re just worlds apart."

CAN TEEN GREEN BE RECORD GOAL MACHINE?

United fans are wondering if Mason Greenwood can now go on to become the club's highest-scoring teenager ever – after a goal apiece in their first two Premier League games.

The England striker, who will be 20 on October 1, squeezed United's point-saver in yesterday's 1-1 draw at Southampton – after firing home in the 5-1 rout of Leeds.

Greenwood has already soared past Wayne Rooney's 15-goal record as United's top-scoring teen in the Prem – with 19.

    FOUR'S TO BE RECKONED WITH

They're four of the biggest names in football- but who is the best striker in the world right now?

Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Romelu Lukaku have all been in red hot form since the turn of the year and here's a look at the numbers they average per 90 minutes.

The 28-year-old joined Chelsea for the second time in a £97.5million deal from Inter earlier this month.

And in doing so he became the second most expensive Premier league player of all time behind £100million man Jack Grealish.

The Belgian forward fired Inter Milan to their first Serie A title since 2011 last season, and also won the FA Cup with Chelsea in 2012 in his brief first spell at Stamford Bridge.

He also won a Belgian title with Anderlecht in 2009.

In terms of goals Lukaku averages less per game than Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland, but he does create more chance than both of the Bundesliga strikers and Harry Kane.

    LOSS LEADERS

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea’s staggering losses for the 2019/20 Premier League season have been revealed.

Finances in England’s top flight took a huge hit when the coronavirus pandemic brought football to a standstill last year.

There were no games in over three months as clubs scrambled to reshuffle their finances.

And fans are only just getting used to returning to stadiums in numbers once again.

As a result, there were massive drops in revenue for every Premier League club in the 19/20 campaign – bar the three teams promoted from the Championship.

Excluding Aston Villa, Norwich and Sheffield United, who all benefitted from new lucrative TV deals, the other 17 teams saw a combined loss of £618MILLION due to Covid-19.

According to Swiss Ramble, United had the biggest loss in the top flight, numbering £118m. Next in line were Tottenham with a deficit of £69m.

Man City (-£57m), Arsenal (-£52m) and West Ham (-£51m) were also hit hard.

Liverpool and Chelsea fared only slightly better, with respective losses of £43m and £40m.

But Everton managed to drop just £2m.

    BRAND NEW LOAN

Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams has joined Premier League new boys Norwich on loan for the season.

SunSport exclusively revealed in May the Canaries were keen on the England Under-21 star.

    Credit: PA

Old Trafford chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been reluctant to let the 20-year-old leave even temporarily over the past year.

But now he is letting Williams depart for regular top-flight game-time.

Williams said: “It’s a massive club and I like the way they play.

"I’ve watched them over the years and seen how they play.

“The club like to play out from the back and play football. That really inspired me to come here, and I think that the head coach can really improve me as a player.

“Everyone has been so welcoming. I’ve really enjoyed my time here already and I can’t wait to meet everybody. I’ve just got a feeling it’ll be a good year.”

    ALLEGRI: I DROPPED RONALDO

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri insists he DROPPED Cristiano Ronaldo for yesterday’s 2-2 Serie A draw with Udinese – amid suggestions the legend asked to be left out following transfer talk.

Allegri told DAZN: “Ronaldo is feeling well. I had talked to him before the game, telling him he would start on the bench.

“He made himself available, he did well when he entered the pitch, he also scored a goal, but it was disallowed.”

Ronaldo was introduced by Allegri on the hour – and in the 95th minute he ripped his shirt off to celebrate after heading what he thought was a winner.

But VAR ruled out the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar’s goal for offside.

Ronaldo, 36, has just one year remaining on his £25million-a-year contract and in recent weeks has been linked with a move.

WHO UTD, CITY AND CHELSEA COULD MEET

ENGLISH clubs will find out their Champions League Group Stage opponents when the draw is made in Istanbul on Thursday.

Chelsea will be eager to see who they'll begin their defence against, while Manchester United, City and Liverpool are set to be in the mix once again.

The four Premier League clubs are bound to be among the favourites.

But there will be tough tests along the way.

Chelsea find themselves in Pot 1 as reigning champions, alongside Prem winners Manchester City.

While Man United and Liverpool will be drawn from Pot 2.

The Blues and Man City may feel like they have an advantage, but Pots 1 and 2 are both full to the brim with dangerous opposition.

Thomas Tuchel's side, as well as Pep Guardiola's, could even draw the German's former side Paris Saint-Germain from Pot 2.

Jones’ lack of game time at Man United has him considering his future. He’s open to the possibility of heading out on loan and weighing up the options he has in the Championship.

As things stand, the 29-year-old has been offered around to gauge where the interest is, with his preference to link up with a club that’s challenging for promotion.

    CRISTIANO ONLY RON THE BENCH

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus was again thrust into doubt as he was left on the bench for Sunday's 2-2 draw with Udinese.

Speculation has continued to surround Ronaldo this summer and he has been linked with old club Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG.

Reports suggest that Ronaldo had requested to be benched for the game and he has apparently now asked his club to sanction a move away from Turin.

The news will have clubs licking their lips at the prospect of landing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has less than a year remaining on his current contract.

    MAD PRICE

PSV Eindhoven have placed an asking price of £40million on youngster Noni Madueke, who has interested Manchester United.

Madueke, 19, is also wanted by former club Tottenham after a lethal start to the season, according to the Mirror.

The attacking midfielder scored twice in a 4-0 romp against Ajax in the Johan Cruyff Shield in Amsterdam and has been on target three more times in six Eredivisie and Champions League games.

Ten clubs have made contact with PSV about Madueke’s availability – including Leicester and Wolves.

And they have all been told that the bidding will have to start at £40million.

    DONE DEAL

Brandon Williams has completed a season-long loan deal to join Norwich.

He is excited to get going at a different club and is excited about the prospect of teaming up with the Canaries.

He told the Norwich media team: "It feels very different. It’s the first time I’ve ever played for a different club before but I’m just really excited to get started and meet everybody and get my season started on a personal basis.

"It’s a massive club and I like the way they play. I’ve watched them over the years and seen how they play. They like to play out from the back and play football. It really inspired me to pick here.

"I think that the manager (Daniel Farke) can really improve me as a player.

"I’m getting myself out of my comfort zone. I’m from Manchester, all my family and friends are there. Everything I know has been in Manchester so to come here and focus on my football will be really good for me."

    'SHOCKING'

Anthony Martial ‘plays like he doesn’t care’, says Jamie O’Hara, after the Manchester United winger’s poor performance in their 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday.

O'Hara slammed United's performance before going on to single out Martial.

He told talkSPORT: "I thought Manchester United were actually really poor.

"They were so sloppy in possession. In the final third, when they got in key areas, they just didn’t make the right pass.

“Martial was shocking, it was a really bad performance from him.

"He just plays like he’s not bothered whether he plays well or not. It’s a weird attitude to have.

“Martial just plays like he doesn’t care whether he’s good or not. It’s just it’s weird how he plays because he’s got so much talent."

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW

The draw for the Champions League group stage will take place in Istanbul on Thursday 26 August at 5pm BST.

Manchester United are in pot two along with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Sevilla, and Borussia Dortmund.

It could be argued that United’s toughest draw would be something like: Bayern, Ajax, AC Milan. Meanwhile, their easiest possible draw might look more like: Sporting, Zenit, Brugge.

There is also the possibility of United meeting Villareal in the group stages, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be seeking revenge after the Spanish side beat them in the Europa League final.

    POG FRUSTRATED

Paul Pogba was left frustrated by the draw at Southampton as the Manchester United midfielder feels winning such games could prove key in the final Premier League standings.

The draw left impressive Pogba unfulfilled and hungry to kick on at Wolves next weekend.

He said: "I think we deserved more, but you have to show more also on the pitch,' the France international said.

"After the goal we scored, we dropped a little bit, we lose control of the game a bit and that's why I think we didn't get the second goal.

"I think we dropped a few points today. We get one point, we stay focused.

"I think at the end of the season, those games, those three points, will be very important.

"So, today we didn't lose, we got one point and the next game away we know that those points will be very important for us and we don't want to give them away."

    'HE WILL SCORE LOADS'

Alan Shearer showered praise on Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood after he scored against Southampton on Sunday.

The wonderkid is in fine goalscoring form having scored against Leeds in United's opening weekend of the season.

Shearer said on Match of the Day 2: "I watched Greenwood last week as a centre forward. And that's where he'll end up, I have no doubt about that, and he will score loads and loads of goals.

"He's got that much about him, so when he played that well last week, I think he offered everything.

"He offered a threat in behind, he came short, his touch, spinning in behind, I thought he was superb, so then to move him so that Martial can come in today I didn't think Man United had that spark that they had last week and maybe that was one of the reasons."

    'DISAPPOINTING'

Bruno Fernandes has delivered a promise to Manchester United fans in the aftermath of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Southampton.

Having cruised to an eye-catching opening day victory, Fernandes and co produced an under-par performance as they were held by the Saints at St Mary's Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Fernandes said on Twitter: "Disappointing result today. We will react next weekend. Thank you to all the fans for the amazing support."

    WILLIAMS TO NORWICH: UPDATE…

Brandon Williams completed a medical with Norwich over the weekend.

His season-long loan from Manchester United is expected to be completed today.

The left-back founds game time difficult to come by at Old Trafford last season and with Alex Telles to return from injury he would have found it tough to play this season due, with Luke Shaw also playing well.

    RASH RECOVERY

Marcus Rashford is thought to be thrilled with his shoulder operation following his battle with a muscle injury sustained in 2020.

Ole Gunnar claims the England ace was pleased with the results of surgery on the area which caused him problems during the Euros and last season.

Rashford, 23, suffered a muscle tear in his shoulder in November.

But the Old Trafford hero only went under the knife on August 6 after taking injections to manage the pain so he could play within that time frame.

The Daily Mail reports the striker is upbeat about his chances of returning to first-team action by October.

And Red Devils boss Solskjaer claims the player is already doing workouts in the gym in a bid to keep fit as he continues his rehabilitation.

"My ambitions are obviously to become a first-team player here.

"I know exactly what it takes, I'm ready to go and showcase my ability to everyone and keep on striving for all my goals.

"Signing this new contract shows the faith that the club has in me, it gives me extra motivation and means so much for me and my family.

    PLANNING AHEAD

Real Madrid sold Martin Odegaard to Arsenal to help fund a move for Paul Pogba, according to Spanish outlet ABC.

Los Blancos also view the Frenchman as a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, who is getting closer to retirement.

Agent Mino Raiola has consistently linked his client with a move to Real.

And with Pogba's contract set to expire next summer it is possible Carlo Ancelotti's side could make a swoop for the midfielder.
