Newcastle tips: Elland Road Boy can score for Leeds fans in the 5.15 after Radrizzani win at Wolverhampton

LEEDS fans could be celebrating a winner at Newcastle tonight.

That is because a horse named Elland Road Boy goes into the 5.15 race as the big 5-2 favourite.

And it can follow hot on the heels of Radrizzani – named after the club's owner – who scored on debut at Wolverhampton on Monday afternoon.

Leeds supporters have had little to cheer from their side in recent weeks.

Back-to-back 4-1 defeats to Leicester and then Crystal Palace have Marcelo Bielsa's side 15th in the Premier League.

And things could get worse with fixtures against Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea to come after the international break.

But at least Elland Road Boy, trained by Yorkshire-based Kevin Ryan, could bring some cheer.

He goes into the 5f nursery handicap on the back of victory at Southwell over the same distance two weeks ago.

A 9-2 shot then, he made a strong challenge inside the final furlong and kept on gamely to win by half a length.

Kevin Stott, whose girlfriend Megan Nicholls rode her 95th winner last night, was the jockey on that occasion but Danny Tudhope returns tonight.

And the good news is that Elland Road Boy appears to be getting better with rach race.

He had wind surgery after coming last of six at Chester in August.

The bay colt then came fourth on his return at Pontefract in September at odds of 28-1.

Victory at Southwell followed that and the bookies clearly like his chances of doing it again.
