Nine top stars available to negotiate free transfers away in January including Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba

THE face of football could look very different in 2022.

A host of superstars are stalling on signing new contracts and will be available to snatch up on free transfers from July 1.

But that means clubs will be able to approach players to negotiate pre-contract terms as early as January.

So who looks the most likely to be on the move?

We've taken a look at the nine most valuable stars set for a change of scenery next year.

THE France superstar, 22, is almost certain to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season.

Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid – the club he supported growing up.

Los Blancos have been itching to nab Mbappe to spearhead a new-look Galacticos team for years now.

And with PSG willing to allow him to leave for free in order to keep him for the rest of 2021-22 – rather than cash-in in January – club are certain to race to Mbappe on January 1 to convince him to commit to them.

Liverpool are also in the running with Mbappe reportedly more keen to play under Jurgen Klopp than Carlo Ancelotti.

THE French midfielder, 28, is set to leave Old Trafford for a second time in the summer.

Pogba, an £89m buy from Juventus in 2016, has struggled to replicate his top form with any consistency in England.

And he may have already played his LAST GAME for United, with the club planning to shelve him even after he returns from his two-month injury layoff.

It's believed Pogba does want to extend his stay in Manchester, but wants to overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as their top earner.

That is likely to scare United officials away, with the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and PSG keen on landing him on a free.

VALUED at £49.5m, the AC Milan star's stock continues to rise.

Kessie, 24, is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the San Siro.

And that has caught the attention of Man Utd and Tottenham, among many other clubs.

New Spurs boss Antonio Conte is a big fan of Kessie from his days at Milan's rivals Inter.

And he could finally land his man in 2022 – likely on a free in July, but potentially in a cut-price January swoop as Tottenham scramble to secure a European spot.

THE Argentine forward, 27, is yet to officially put pen to paper on a new deal at the Allianz Stadium.

Dybala is expected to sign a contract extension, but the length of time it's taking to get over the line will be a concern to Juve.

But that will have suitors licking their lips, with Spurs and United linked with the Juventus star in recent seasons.

Chelsea and Barcelona have also been linked with moves for £45m-rated Dybala.

THE injury-plagued winger, 24, joined Barcelona in a staggering £138m deal in 2017.

But Dembele has struggled to stay fit and looks likely to be moved on from the Nou Camp – particularly given the rapid rise of Ansu Fati.

Liverpool, Man Utd and Newcastle have all been linked with a move for the France international.

Valued at £45m, landing Dembele on a free could be worth a gamble despite his injury history.

THE 51-cap Italy international is still set to be available for absolutely nothing in July 2022.

Insigne, 30, has spent 15 years at Napoli working his way through the youth ranks and into the first team.

But with his contract expiring and still no sign of an extension on the table, the forward could be moved on in the summer.

Chelsea and Tottenham are two of the biggest names linked with Insigne, but he's likely to be very much in demand across Europe.

THE Croatian defensive midfielder, 28, has been at the reigning Serie A champions since 2015.

But Brozovic is out of contract at the end of the season, with Liverpool leading the race to sign him.

Liverpool are rumoured to be willing to pay the 68-cap international £120,000 a week to stave off interest from United, Newcastle, PSG and Real Madrid.

ONE of the most in-demand stars on the list, Rudiger is already attracting the attention of European giants Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Chelsea desperately want the 28-year-old centre-back to stay after enjoying a resurgence under Thomas Tuchel.

But Rudiger believes he deserves to be one of the club's top earners, with the Blues apprehensive to give him such a pay-rise.

Bayern and Juve have no such concerns and are believed to be ready to offer the German £400,000 a week in January ahead of a free move on July 1.

NIKLAS SULE – Bayern Munich

THE German defender, 26, has recently attracted the attention of newly-rich Newcastle.

The Toon are keen to bolster their squad since their £300m takeover.

Now the richest club in the world, the St James' Park side could opt to land a cut-price move in January.

But they will also be eligible to kickstart pre-contract talks in the winter window should they decide to land him on a free in the summer.
