Shocking video shows moment gunman opens fire near German synagogue

Dramatic video shows the moment a gunman opened fire near a synagogue in the German town of Halle Wednesday – an attack that left two people dead on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.

The clip, broadcast by regional public broadcaster MDR, shows a man in a helmet getting out of a car and firing off four shots from a long-barreled gun that he was seen reloading.

Police tweeted that the suspects fled in a car and that one person had been arrested.

It was not immediately clear what the gunman was shooting at.

The attack, which happened on the holy day of Yom Kippur, took place near a Turkish eatery about 2,000 feet from the synagogue.

Police said a motive for the shooting was not yet known.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Cate Blanchett is eyeing a role in Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s next film.
The Oscar-winning actress is in talks to star opposite Bradley Cooper in “Nightmare Alley,” an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s novel.
The book was previously adapted into a movie in 1947, which starred Tyrone Power as an ambitious young con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is. At first, they enjoy success fleecing people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the tables on him, out-manipulating the manipulator.
“Nightmare Alley” is del Toro’s first directing gig since 2017’s “Shape of Water,” which won four Academy Awards including Best Picture.
Blanchett can next be seen in Richard Linklater’s “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” this fall.
