Ben Shephard speechless as ruthless Tipping Point player wins ‘hugest drop ever’

Ben Shephard has witnessed thousands of drops in his time as the host of Tipping Point, but one contestant's lucky drop left him speechless.

Tipping Point viewers were just as shellshocked by the move, branding the win as the "biggest drop" they'd ever witnessed.

On Friday's New Year's Day episode, player Ruth stepped up to the plate, starting off the second round with a humble £700 in her prize pot.

However, in a clever playing tactic, she launched all of her counters into the second drop zone – yielding incredible results.

Ruth managed to tip tens of counters into the tray, toppling a valuable double counter for good measure.

Watching the counters fall, Ben exclaimed: "That's an amazing drop of 19 across the tipping point."

In a matter of seconds, her total transformed from £700 to £3,150 – leaving Ben, and her rivals, astounded.

Host Ben declared: "What an amazing, amazing return.

"Goodness me, that leaves you on £3,150, which is a huge score."

He then turned to her rivals – Clare and Alex – and hinted their chances of making it through to the jackpot round were seriously reduced.

Ben remarked: "That's quite a return for your counters.

"Clare and Alex, you have a bit of a job on your hands now."

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, viewers were similarly in disbelief, as they branded Ruth as "ruthless," exclaiming over the enormity of the drop.

One said: "Jesus, biggest drop I've ever seen !!!!

"Ruthless Ruth into final," wrote a second.

"Welp, Ruth's won," a third chimed, and a fourth wondered: "Any point in carrying on?"

Tipping Point ars on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
