On Wednesday evening, ITV drew in over 27 million viewers as football fans tuned in to watch Harry Kane secure England a 2-1 semi-final victory over Denmark in Euro 2020. And while the action on the pitch deservedly dominated headlines, a number of those who watched the coverage had their attention drawn to the commentary provided by Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon. The duo drew criticism from viewers for a number of comments made in the final moments of the clash and it’s led to several viewers threatening to watch on the BBC unless the likes of Ally McCoist and Clive Tyldesley commentate on the final.
