Corries Kimberly Hart-Simpson to make explosive return to the ITV cobbles in 2022
Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson is reportedly set to make an "explosive" return to the ITV soap in 2022.
The actress, 34, first joined the cobbles in June 2020 as escort Nicky Wheatley, who developed a complicated relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) after he lost his on-screen wife, Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn), to cancer.
After Daniel gave Nicky an envelope of money to pay off her debts, she decided to start a new life and left the cobbles in September 2020.
However, now it has been reported that Kimberly is set to make an "explosive" return to Corrie with her scenes due to air in March.
A source told The Sun: "Daniel’s world is going to be rocked when Nicky unexpectedly turns up on the cobbles. She was there for him in his darkest hour after Sinead’s death but he didn’t think he’d ever see her again.
"Now he’s secretly with Daisy but could Nicky put the final nail in the coffin for their seemingly doomed relationship?"
While they added: "Bosses are delighted Kimberly is returning. She was hugely popular with fans and she’s set to make another explosive splash in the new year."
OK! has contacted Coronation Street for comment.
Kimberly previously revealed that she had been trying to get a role on Coronation Street for ten years.
She told Inside Soap in a past interview: "My first ever audition for Coronation Street was probably about 10 years ago, when I'd just finished drama school. I completely over-acted!
"I was so hammy because I couldn't understand the difference between doing theatre and TV."
She added: "But with the role of Nicky, I only auditioned once – I just walked into the room and thought, 'I'm having this one!'"

Kimberly sweetly added that it was her late father's dream for her to secure a role on the cobbles.
She told The Sun : "Unfortunately, I lost my dad in 2007. One of the last things he said to me was, "Just do me a favour and get on Corrie, love." We had that shared connection with it."
