Deborah Meaden praises ‘impressive’ Dragons’ Den star who is youngest in history

Dragons' Den titan Deborah Meaden has hailed the latest Dragon to join the show as "really impressive" – and the new investor will be the youngest on the BBC One show's history.

Appearing on Loose Women today, Deborah spoke to the panel about the upcoming series of the budding entrepreneur show.

And Deborah was clearly delighted with the new Dragon, who is called Steven Bartlett and is just 28-years-old – a record-breaking age for the show.

Steven, who is the founder and former CEO of social media marketing agency The Social Chain, which he built from his bedroom in Manchester, will join the Dragons for the next series.

He described becoming a Dragon as "a tremendous honour".

Chatting to ITV host Ruth Langsford and the rest of the panel about Steven, Deborah said: "I've only met him on screen. He's really impressive and I love his background".

"For years I've been thinking 'wouldn't it be a great thing to sort of bridge the gap between the ages [with the Dragons]?' because we're all maturing.

Seeing the funny side of the new development on the show, she then joked: "Well I'm not, obviously", which got a good laugh from the panel.

Dragons' Den airs on BBC One on Thursday nights at 8pm.
