Paddy Kirk (played by Dominic Brunt) recently decided to join forces with Kim Tate (Claire King) to dope her horse. A desperate Paddy agreed he would dope Kim’s horse so she wins a race in return for money which he could use to ensure Al (Michael Wildman) doesn’t become the permanent owner of The Woolpack. But will Paddy get found out by the police?

During Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap, Paddy made it clear to Kim that he was feeling uneasy about doping her horse for money.

Kim toyed whether she would keep quiet about the horse doping, saying it depended on what the police found.

She told a nervous Paddy: “I haven’t decided, I’ve been rather preoccupied. I suppose it depends on whether the police uncover a reason for me to retaliate.”

While she put Paddy on edge, she received a phone call from the police.

Paddy was forced to leave her alone while she took the phone call, unaware the police want to speak to her about her son Jamie Tate (Alex Lincoln) who they were looking for after he was suspected to be dead following a serious car crash.

Speaking to a police offer on the phone, Kim said: “Don’t tell me, you are doing everything you can, yet you are still moving at a glacial pace.”

However, the officer told Kim that there had actually been a development which is why he was calling her.

“It’s not good news I am afraid,” he explained to an alarmed looking Kim.

He broke the news to Kim that the police have decided to “wrap up the search” for Jamie.

When his love interest Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) overheard that the police have called off the search for him, she begged Kim to call the officer back.

But a smug Kim told Gabby: “I knew you’d be hovering somewhere.”

Gabby pleaded: “Kim, call them back, say you won’t stand for it. Kim, you can’t just let them stop.”

Kim explained to an upset Gabby that there was nothing she could do to change the police’s mind.

She added: “Life is cruel Gabby, but it goes on. The sooner you understand that, the better.”

During the episode, Paddy was questioned by Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) about his work at the racecourse.

But he ended up rushing off as he felt guilty about his unethical doping move.

It is clear that Paddy the vet is struggling with his guilt, but how far will he go to avoid being caught?

Now Kim has been made aware of how concerned Paddy is about the police finding out about the doping scandal, will she blackmail him to dope a horse again in another race?

Could Kim turn Paddy into the police and get him sent to prison while she gets off unpunished?

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
