Emmerdale spoilers tease Marlon hospital dash as he receives devastating news
Emmerdale favourite Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) leaves his family concerned in upcoming scenes as his cough gets worth.
Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) excitedly prepares for work next week and is happy to be back.
However, Moira Barton (Natalie J.Robb) notices how distracted Rhona is with her mind elsewhere and soon her worry is well founded.
Marlon’s stifling a worrying cough and Rhona is nervous about leaving him home alone.
Meanwhile, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) takes Marlon on a visit to the allotment.
Once there, Marlon’s coughing worsens causing Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) to suggest he drive him to hospital.
Bear’s mortified at the way his day has turned out.
Rhona panics when Bear explains Dr Liam has taken Marlon to hospital and she’s cross at her mother Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) for allowing him out.
In the hospital, Rhona’s sick with worry to learn Marlon has developed aspiration pneumonia and is wearing a breathing mask as his coughing worsens.
It’s worrying times and Marlon sees the concern in Rhona’s eyes that his condition is worse than she lets on.
Later in the week, the doctor informs a devastated Marlon and Rhona his rehabilitation progress will likely regress and they’re both heartbroken by this step backwards.
Meanwhile, Paddy’s taken aback to hear his father Bear blame himself over Marlon’s current predicament.
Marlon suffered a life-changing stroke last month.
The excited chef was seen walking home to pick up Rhona's engagement ring.
But suddenly his vision went blurry and Marlon saw his mouth droop to one side in the mirror before he collapsed to the ground.
As everything moved in slow motion, he then realised he was having a stroke as the voice inside his head repeated "Face, Arm, Speech, Time".
This is the Stroke Association's FAST acronym that is used to identify a stroke.
As he tried to stay awake, Marlon’s young daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) arrived home to find her dad on the floor and called an ambulance.
After he was rushed to hospital, doctors confirmed that he'd suffered a stroke and would need surgery to remove a clot on the brain, leaving his family shocked.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7.30pm
