Gogglebox's Paige Deville quits show in furious rant on Twitter

GOGGLEBOX star Paige Deville has announced she has quit the series because of ‘zero aftercare support’ in a scathing statement on Twitter.

The star of the Channel 4 show is lined up to return to the series, which starts tonight, alongside her mum Sally.

However, in a brief Twitter statement, Paige has said while the show was ‘an experience’, she will no longer be part of it.

She wrote: “I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox. It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, [they’re] NTA winners.”

The series won best factual entertainment show at the National Television Awards last week, with the Malone Family, and brother/sister duo Pete and Sophie Sandiford among those representing the show.

Paige and Sally were not in attendance.

When approached by The Sun Online, a Gogglebox spokesperson said: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”

Gogglebox's new series will be missing many familiar faces, with five more stars quitting the show following the death of their on-screen partners and loved ones.

Three of the regular commentators have died in recent months – Pete McGarry, Mary Cook, and Andy Michael. At the NTAs, the win was dedicated to their memory.

Executive producer Victoria Ray explained: "We have had people from the show pass away recently.

"We lost Mary and Andy, and a little while ago we lost Pete. Their loved ones won't be taking part in the show for the moment. Understandably, they want their privacy."

Gogglebox returns tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
