Hollyoaks' return details revealed as four weekly episodes are confirmed

The day Hollyoaks fans have been craving is almost upon us. Yes, the serial drama is back — and it returns with four episodes a week plus a special Friday Favourite.

The Channel 4 soap was forced to shut down production amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and episodes which were filmed prior to the shutdown were subsequently rationed out.

Weekly instalments were reduced from five to three, before being cut to two, in an effort to keep it on air for as long as possible.

The Wednesday, Thursday and Friday gaps in the schedule were filled with classic outings in the form of Hollyoaks Favourites — and, later, [email protected] — and therefore viewers were still able to enjoy regular instalments.

The final pre-lockdown episode aired July 20, which meant the soap was forced to go off the air — and a full slate of classic episodes were introduced to ensure fans for their regular fix.

However, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally upon us, as Hollyoaks returns with a bang — and it does so with four weekly instalments!

September 7 will see the serial drama air its first new episode in almost two months, and it will do so on Channel 4 — meaning that the instalment in question won’t air on E4 beforehand.

However, for those of who prefer the First Look airings, fear not, as E4 will air the follow-up episode on September 7 at 7pm.

From here on out, viewers can enjoy new episodes four times a week — on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

“But what about Friday?” You ask.

Well, fear not, as a special Friday Favourite will air from here on out in order to finish out there week with a fifth trip to the eponymous village.

Hollyoaks returns on September 7 at 6:30pm on Channel 4, followed by the return of first-look at 7pm on E4.
