Christmas is a time for celebration, giving gifts, and, of course, endless amounts of advertising.
However, adverts are an iconic part of the festive season, with companies pulling out all the stops to produce works of art that stick in our memories—at least until they completely outdo themselves the following year.
There is truly something special about these adverts, and whether it be Coca-Cola or John Lewis, we all have our favourite.
When they appear on our screens, it triggers something in our brains and lets us know that Christmas is well and truly on its way.
But when do the adverts usually air?
Well, since 2014, John Lewis has launched its advert in early November, normally between November 7 and 15.
It is often revealed early on a Friday morning, and if we were to base our predictions on that, it could be released on November 11 or a little earlier than usual on November 4.
Either way, it will be here in the blink of an eye.
Last year’s advert follows a boy called Nathan who discovers an alien spaceship that has crash-landed on Earth and befriends a young alien called Skye by teaching her Christmas traditions.
People have taken to social media to guess what the new advert will be about and what song will be used.
The most popular prediction involves two people falling in love after meeting in the queue to see the late Queen Elizabeth II lying in state.
The Coca-Cola lorry, with its winking or not-so-winking Father Christmas, is an iconic part of the festive season and has been since 1995.
Last year, the advert landed on November 23, 2021, quite a bit later than John Lewis.
The most popular Coca-Cola Christmas advert based on YouTube views, currently with a total of 9.7 million, came out in 2020 and features a dad’s epic mission to the North Pole to deliver his daughter’s letter to Father Christmas.
The advert, directed by Taika Waititi, hits you right in the feels and reminds you of the importance of family.
In recent years, Aldi has firmly cemented itself as having one of the best Christmas adverts.
Kevin the Carrot has become a fan favourite among viewers and even popped up to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
On its website, the budget supermarket wrote: “We know you’re excited about getting a first look at Kevin for 2022, but we’ve not seen him or his family since Christmas 2021.
“If he gets in touch, we’ll let you know.”
In 2021, Aldi’s Christmas advert was released on November 11, so we should be seeing Kevin fairly soon.
Last year’s advert, which has racked up over a million views on YouTube, was a rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and featured Kevin the Carrot as the Spirit of Christmas as he tried to show Ebanana Scrooge how magical the season can be.
