Earlier this year, NCIS Los Angeles had to end two episodes early due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Now the show is finally returning with its 12th season on CBS, which will pick up after the end of series 11.

As a result, many will be racking their brains to remember how the previous season concluded.

Ahead of the show’s return, Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about this.

How did NCIS Los Angeles season 11 end?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for NCIS LA season 11.

In the final episode of season 11, G Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) headed to Afghanistan.

They did this after there were reports a Navy SEAL called Argento (Juan Riedinger) had gone rogue.

The NCIS team were sent in to find out what had happened and if he had really murdered a prisoner as his colleagues claimed.

The evidence stacked up against Argento in the season finale, which was then only heightened when he led an assault against the team.

He ordered his men to attack a building he knew Sam and Callen were inside.

However, before he could succeed with this, his team noticed something wasn’t right.

After they escaped safely, Sam arrested him but Argento warned about having Washington DC “connections.”

Speaking ahead of season 12, showrunner R Scott Gemmill revealed this storyline will be picked up again in episode two.

He told TV Line: “We make good on the promise to see that story through.

“We follow up that storyline in our second episode of the season, where that case goes to trial and has a few twists and turns within it.”

However, he did confirm they were unable to get Catherine Bell back to conclude the storyline due to scheduling issues.

There are also some other storylines to resolve when the show returns for season 12.

This includes what happened to Nell Jones (Renee Felice-Smith).

Fans will remember how she took an extended leave of absence in series 11 and it was not clear if she would return.

Now it has been confirmed she will be back but viewers will be hoping to fill in the gaps of what happened to her.

NCIS Los Angeles season 12 begins on CBS on November 8.
