Queer Eye's Karamo Brown ready to become the first gay Bachelor after split from fiance Ian Jordan
QUEER Eye's Karamo Brown says he's ready to become the first ever gay Bachelor following his split from fiance Ian Jordan.
The television host announced last month that he had called time on the ten year relationship.
Chatting about the popular dating show and if he'd like a stab at the title role, he told Us Weekly: "We can go for it. Let’s try it. I would … Why not?
"Let me tell you something: what I’ve learned right now… is that dating is a mess."
Reflecting on his recent experiences, he revealed his issue with the more modern forms of hooking up.
He went on: "Not to be crude or anything, [but] sending inappropriate pics is not a way to ever engage with someone. That’s not universal for ‘hello'.
"I don’t know why guys think that’s an appropriate thing to do.
"So, it’s like, please keep it respectful. You know what I mean?”
And in conclusion he added: "So, if I could just get a whole bunch of great guys in one room and just to, like, go through, sign me up."
In June The Bachelor cast Matt James, its first male black lead ever after fans demanded more diversity on the show.
The Bachelor producers also released a statement pledging to "do better to reflect the world around us," so a spot for Karamo on the show could be a reality.
The father-of-two was set to tie the knot with Ian this month, but instead the couple split despite Karamo re-proposing to Ian during lockdown.
The 39-year-old Netflix star first got engaged to the TV director, 48, in 2018, and were initially forced to cancel their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic.
During Ian’s May 8 birthday, the 'culture expert' got down on one knee yet again to show his lifelong commitment.
Ian – who was dressed in a “Happy Birthday” tiara and sash – covered his mouth stunned as Karamo took out the ring.
"Ian, as you know I love you very much. And after this quarantine I realized how much I love you.
“And we were supposed to be getting married but now that's getting canceled 'cause of corona. And also you lost your engagement ring.”
The Dancing With The Stars alum captioned a video of the moment: "I'm Engaged… Again! During this Quarantine I have fallen even deeper in love w/ my fiancé @theianjordan."
He added, "So on his bday / which is also our anniversary I proposed again. Our wedding has been canceled/postponed like so many other people but I still wanted to celebrate our love."
Before signing off, he wrote, "I love you Sugah!"
