Richard Madeley clashed with Good Morning Britain guest Joel Beya, who works for Cheeky Sport, over the PIF takeover of Newcastle United on Monday’s episode of the ITV show. Their row over the Premier League clearing the £305million takeover turned fiery when Richard was left stunned when Joel defended the controversial move.
Richard and Susanna got into a heated debate with their guests over the takeover of Newcastle United.
Top-flight clubs have complained to the Premier League after it cleared the £305m takeover of Newcastle by a Saudi Arabian-backed group.
Some have accused the takeover of “sportswashing” which is when a group or nation-state uses sport to clean its image.
Journalist Alex Thomson appeared as a guest on Good Morning Britain to express his disappointment at the move, but Joel defended the decision.

Alex said: “Does the Premier League really want to be in a world where there have blood-stained hands? Do you want to live in a world where it’s money, money money?”
Joel replied: “I think it’s very unfair to be pinning that on people when you don’t have cold facts.”
His response infuriated Richard who interrupted to say: “You have to be joking – are you seriously suggesting the list of suggestions against Saudi Arabia are not serious?”
