Ridley Road follows the story of the uprising of Neo-Nazism in the UK in 1962, with a young girl from Manchester trying to blend in with the far right. The story is based on real-life events and will air in four parts on the BBC over the course of the next month. Viewers will be given an insight into why certain groups wanted white supremacy to rule superior through the portrayals of the actors starring in the piece. Here is everything you need to know about the cast of the TV drama.

Who is in the cast of Ridley Road?

Agnes O’Casey as Vivien Epstein

Known for her roles on the stages of the theatre, Agnes is making her television debut as a young Jewish girl called Vivien in the historic drama.

The actress has always had a connection to acting as her great-grandfather was Irish actor Sean O’Casey.

Her alter-ego undergoes a staggering transformation to hide her faith and beliefs as she joins the fight against the Neo-Nazi uprising.

Vivien upheaves her life from Manchester to join the fight in London but she could end up risking everything and her life in return.

Discussing the importance of the story, Agnes said: “I think it’s an important story to tell because we have seen so much polarisation among our communities, the echo chambers we inhabit mean people are becoming more and more radically right and drastically less empathetic. It’s far too easy to go down rabbit holes of misinformation.”

Tom Varey as Jack Morris

Having starred in Ackley Bridge, Tom is the ex-boyfriend of Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones and their romance came to an end after two years in February.

The actor’s character works hard to protect Vivien from the life she has found herself entwined in as things turn violent.

Jack is eager to fight the uprising of fascism sweeping across the UK at the time but finds it hard to stop the progression of the white supremacy groups.

Rory Kinnear as Colin Jordan

Star of the big-screen, Rory plays the leader of the Neo-Nazi National Socialist group and a real-life character, Colin Jordan.

The actor is best known for his roles in films such as James Bond’s Skyfall, The Imitation Game and he also played the Prime Minister in the Black Mirror episode, The National Anthem.

His character will be seen leading the charge, prompting racism and rioting in the cities of 60s Britain.
