Spoilers: Nina and Seb are brutally attacked by Corey's gang in Corrie tonight

Coronation Street will air shocking and upsetting scenes tonight as Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) are attacked by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and his drunken gang.

Working alongside The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, the scenes are set to be some of the darkest in the show’s history as Coronation Street explore social intolerance and prejudice often suffered by people from stigmatised minority groups.

Nina’s Victorian Goth sub-culture has resulted in some prejudice reactions since she arrived in Weatherfield. Most recently, Corey has made his intolerance towards Nina known, and he expresses his opinion towards her identity again in scenes airing tonight.

In the first half of the ITV soap, final preparations are being put into place for Abi (Sally Carman) and Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) hen and stag parties.

Over at their new flat, Corey tells Asha (Tanisha Gorey) he’s going out again and they head off with Eli, Kelly (Millie Gibson) and Summer (Harriet Bibby).

As a loved up Nina and Seb wander along the canal, they come across Corey’s gang.

A drunken Eli and Corey start making nasty jibes at Nina. Egged on by Eli, Kelly slaps Nina across the face.

Knowing it’s time to leave, Nina and Seb hurry away, but the gang give chase which leads to the couple becoming subject to an unprovoked and vicious attack.

In part two of tonight’s episode, the stag and hen parties are in full swing when the police interrupt and break the news that Seb and Nina have been attacked.

As Abi, Roy (David Neilson) and Kevin head to the hospital, Kelly returns home and masks her terror from the events that have just occurred.

Abi and Roy sit by Seb and Nina’s bedsides as they fight for their lives.

Will they both make a full recovery?
