Strictly: AJ Odudu 'gutted' over dress mishap as she lands bottom of leaderboard

Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu spoke of how ‘gutted’ she felt as she landed at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The presenter and professional dance partner Kai Widdrington have been smashing it on the dance floor so far in this year’s competition, earning high praise from the judges and viewers.

However, their Paso Doble on Saturday night failed to impress as they netted just 28 points, with Craig Revel Horwood describing the routine as ‘disappointing’.

Following the performance, the 33-year-old revealed a mishap involving her yellow dress on the night as she was supported by famous friends and fans.

Alongside a snippet of the routine, she penned: ‘Gutted about the cheeky little slip on my dress during our power Paso tonight but I tried my best & we kept going. Olé!’

Flooding the comments with love, former Strictly co-star Ugo Monye shared a heart emoji.

Ore Oduba, who took home the BBC crown in 2016 said: ‘Totally thought it was choreo!! Was amazing babe.’

Tom Allen replied: ‘You were incredible! Xxxxx.’

‘I thought you were fantastic! I didn’t even notice the slip so to have done it and carried on without making it obvious just shows how professional you are,’ a fan agreed.

‘I loved it and you’ve got my 3 online votes… plus 2 phone ones #superfan.’

As an Instagram user said: ‘I didn’t even notice the slip. You were great! I voted for you and Kai a ridiculous amount of times. Lol, I feel sorry for my phone bill.’

AJ spoke of how difficult she found performing in the dazzling outfit after the routine, stating: ‘I tell you what, honestly it’s hard.

‘It’s hard enough dancing with Kai, let alone this skirt a well!

‘I had two dancing partners out there but I loved every moment and I hope everyone at home did too.’

While AJ and Kai suffered on the scoreboard, Saturday’s show saw Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu receive their first perfect score thanks to their Charleston.

Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice also has us all in tears with their emotional Couple’s Choice routine, which was dedicated to the Deaf community.

We’ll find out who will be making it to Musicals Week in tonight’s results show.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.
