What happened at the end of The Haunting of Bly Manor?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the finale of The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The second season of The Haunting anthology series transported the action to a new spooky home.
This time the story was loosely based on Henry James’ novella titled the Turn of the Screw, which focuses on a house named Bly in the Essex countryside.
In Netflix’s adaptation, a nanny named Dani Clayton (played by Victoria Pedretti) is employed to look after two young orphans.
However, when she arrives, she finds several spirits walking the grounds, to her own dire consequences.
The final episode of the show reveals how her story ends – Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about what happened.
Breaking the curse
In the penultimate episode of The Haunting of Bly Manor, it was revealed all those who had died at the house had entered purgatory.
Everyone from Peter Quint (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) to Hannah Grose (T’Nia Miller) were destined to walk the halls of the manor having previously died there.
This all stemmed from Viola (Kate Siegel) who had dragged many souls into the lake to meet the same fate as her.
In the finale, Dani is next to suffer the terrible fate before Viola is distracted and picks up Flora (Amelie Bea Smith) and carries her to the lake.
Right at the last moment, however, Dani is able to stop her by uttering the words “it’s you, it’s me, it’s us.”
While she didn’t know why she said these words, it drew Viola back to herself and released all of the ghosts at the house.
Everyone then leaves Bly Manor for good and it is revealed the children forget all the previous events at the house as they grow up.

Dani moves back to America and begins her life with Jamie (Amelia Eve) as she tries to forget her past.
However, she can never truly leave it behind and every time she sees water, she is called back by Viola.
This only gets worse as the years pass and Jamie cannot help distract her from this.
One day Dani returns to Bly Manor to reunite with Viola and drown herself in the lake.
Jamie finds her body there and is heartbroken to find she is now the lady of the lake at the haunted home.
Who is the narrator?
At the end of the series, it is revealed Jamie (Carla Gugino) has been the narrator of the story all along.
Viewers have simply been seeing her as an older woman retelling the story at a wedding.
As she reaches the end of her story, the young bride confides in her, wanting to find out how to cope with losing someone you love.
At this point, it becomes clear it is Flora who she has been relaying the story to.
As well as this, Miles (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), Owen (Rahul Kohli) and Henry (Henry Thomas) are also all there at the wedding.
The Haunting of Bly Manor is available to stream on Netflix now.
