This Morning’s Ruth Langsford supports her mum as she's left 'battered and bruised' after nasty fall

THIS Morning's Ruth Langsford is supporting her beloved mum Joan after she was left "battered and bruised" by a nasty fall.

The 61-year-old star has spoken openly about her mother's battle with dementia, with Joan living in a care home but regularly spending time with her daughter.

She often goes to Ruth and husband Eamonn's home for dinner on a Sunday, and Ruth told followers that she was unable to this weekend due to the accident.

The TV favourite shared a sweet video of Joan beaming with joy as she played with their family dog Maggie, a walking frame visibly in front of her on the sofa.

Ruth captioned the social media post: "Sadly no Mum for Sunday lunch today….she’s had a fall. Nothing broken thank goodness but quite battered & bruised poor love.

"She needs a walking frame to get around at the moment and is still in some pain but typical Mum… Stoic and cheerful as ever. Maggie giving her some healing love."

The presenter's celebrity friends were among her followers to flock to the comment section, with Gogglebox's Izzi Warner writing: "Aww bless hope she’s back to herself soon ❤️❤️"

And husband Eamonn showcased his support, gushing: "The Power of Healing in action through a Dog's unconditional and total Love 💘 Maggie knows that something is wrong with Mrs L."

Ruth is incredibly close to her mum and previously broke down in tears over not being able to visit during the peak of coronavirus lockdown rules.

She wept on Loose Women at the time: "The biggest concern for lots of people is if they die and you haven't actually held them.

"I've seen my mum through a window, I phone her all the time but I haven't physically touched her."

She went on: "I can't praise the care workers at my mum's care home enough, they are incredible.

"But they are doing their daily jobs and are very, very busy. They can't match my memories with my mum, they can't sit and talk to my mum about my dad and sister and life as they don't have the time and they don't know her well enough.

Ruth and Joan were finally reunited in March of this year after guidelines changed, and the star shared a video of the heart-rending moment on Instagram at the time.
