Towie’s most memorable moments as cast reunite for show’s 10th anniversary

The Only Way Is Essex is marking 10 years of vajazzles, pool parties and catfights.

When the show hit our screens in 2010, viewers were stunned.

But the outrageous characters, silly catchphrases, garish outfits and fake tans soon had us hooked and made it an instant hit.

The format is part fly-on-the-wall and part scripted – unlike anything previously seen on mainstream TV. Before long it became a national talking point and was pulling in record ratings.

The ITV show even managed to win a Bafta in 2011.

It has now had 25 series and more than 300 episodes, while a string of copycat reality shows have tried to tap in to its enduring appeal. Over the years there have been plenty of memorable moments.

One of the highlights was when Amy Childs gave her pal Sam Faiers a vajazzle – a cosmetic treatment where jewels are used to decorate a woman’s private parts.

Towie eventually became so big it was used to launch digital channel ITVBe in 2014. It remains its flagship show six years on.

It has also launched the careers of some of telly’s biggest reality stars – making them multi-millionaires in the process.

Mark Wright, Gemma Collins and Joey Essex have all gone on to carve out long-term careers in showbiz.
