Why are Emmerdale and Corrie not on tonight and when are they back?

Coronation Street and Emmerdale have kept us on the edge of our sofas recently with some of the most dramatic storylines we’ve seen all year.

Corrie has given us the aftermath of the sinkhole disaster, and Corey (Maximus Evans) finally facing justice for Seb’s murder – while over in the Dales we’re all waiting to see what Meena’s next move will be.

But tonight we won’t be getting our usual Monday night helping of action from either soap – as both are missing from the schedules.

Just what’s happened to Emmerdale and Corrie and when will they be back on our screens?

Why are Emmerdale and Coronation Street not on tonight?

The answer’s simple – our regular soaps have been booted off the schedule tonight to make way for live football, as England take on San Marino in their latest World Cup qualifier.

Both soaps were also shunted from the schedules on Friday night as England took on Albania, in a game that ended in a spectacular 5-0 victory for the Three Lions.

They need a win or a draw against San Marino – who are ranked bottom of world football at number 210 – to book their place in the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.

Live coverage of the match starts at 7pm on ITV – with a kick off time of 7.45pm. Coverage runs all the way through until 10pm.

When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale back?

The good news is you won’t have to wait to long for the return of the soaps – as both Corrie and Emmerdale will be back tomorrow night.

And to make up for missing two days’ worth of episodes you’ll be getting a special hour-long edition of each.

Emmerdale is back at its usual time of 7pm, while Coronation Street airs straight afterwards at 8pm.

This week’s Emmerdale storylines will include Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) making a big decision while Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) lashes out in a big way over in the Dales.

Meanwhile over in Coronation Street, Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) heads into a terrifying situation after becoming homeless.
