Yellowstone plot hole: Fans spot distracting issue with the ranch’s transport
Yellowstone: Kevin Costner discusses being on show in 2018
The first three seasons of Yellowstone have delivered a gripping family drama which culminated in this year’s devastating cliffhanger. As fans continue to wait for the fourth season to hit Paramount and Peacock in 2021, some eagle-eyed viewers have unearthed a distracting error throughout the whole series.
Fans of Paramount’s Western hit Yellowstone admitted they were confused by why the Dutton Ranch’s transportation always seems to be nothing less than spotless.
Ranch owner John Dutton’s (played by Kevin Costner) truck of choice, the Ram Heavy Duty Cab, can be seen throughout the series.
John, ranch hand Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and the rest of the crew make use of a number of Ram Heavy Duty models throughout the series, and are more than likely to make a return for season four.
However, despite the off-road vehicles traversing some pretty rocky terrain, the impressive four-wheelers always appear to have leapt right out of a television commercial.

The trucks’ impeccable condition eventually proved too much for one fan, who raised the contentious issue in a recent post on Reddit.
User ElliotReidsBajingo posted: “I only want ONE thing from season 4 and it isn’t even close to what you’re imagining/thinking of.”
Yellowstone’s growing audience have already started adding to their wishlist for the fourth season, including keeping their fingers crossed for the survival of John and his two children.
In this year’s crushing finale, John, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) were all targeted in appalling attacks, leaving their fates in the next season up in the air.
Surprisingly, the survival of three of the show’s main characters was the last thing on this fan’s mind.
They continued: “I just want ONE scene where one of the Yellowstone pickups or SUVs isn’t sparkling clean, but splattered with mud and dirt and with a zillion bugs smushed on the front grille.
Finally, the desperate fan pleaded: “IS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR???!!!”
Even though Rip Wheeler and the bunkhouse crew are made to do the Duttons’ dirty work, their messy duties have never been reflected by the state of their vehicles.

Over three seasons, the Dutton Ranch’s Ram trucks have been featured in practically every episode so far, leaving viewers puzzled as to why they always look so sparkling clean.
Although some fans have been watching the series in overseas territories, or on NBC’s new streaming service Peacock, the answer is immediately clear for those watching live on Paramount.
One fan explained: “99.78653% sure Ram is a sponsor so they want them trucks looking dazzling, yo.”
During each episode, the action frequently cuts to an advert for the Ram truck brand, confirming Yellowstone is using product placement to pick up some extra budget.
This form of advertising is nothing new, and has been used by films and TV shows for decades, though it does have the unfortunate side effect of John’s trucks looking implausibly spotless in every scene.
Another fan argued: “I would love to see one ranch truck that looks more than a year or two old. No wonder Dutton has cash flow problems if he’s buying new duallys every year for the entire ranch.”
John Dutton’s vast wealth goes some way to explain why his trucks always look so squeaky clean, but showrunner Taylor Sheridan might want to think about including a scene at a car wash in the next season to satisfy Yellowstone’s pickiest fans.
Yellowstone will return with season 4 in 2021 on Paramount and Peacock.
