Batman star told to take penis-shrinking pills for bulge deemed ‘too big for TV’

Batman sidekick star Burt Ward was ordered to take penis-shrinking pills because his bulge was too big for telly.

The actor, who appeared as Robin for 120 episodes in the hit 60s show, said he only took the medication for a few days before ditching it.

Instead, he opted to use his bright yellow cape to hide his supersize manhood.

But he claimed Batman actor Adam West had a different problem, having to stuff towels down his pants to enhance his own package.

Burt, now 74, said: “They thought that Robin had a very large bulge for television.

“With Adam they put Turkish towels in his undershorts.”

Burt said television chiefs sent him to a doctor to get pills to “shrink me up” for his skin-tight costume.

The star added: “I took them for three days and then I decided that they can probably keep me from having children.

“I stopped doing that and I just used my cape to cover it.”

Burt, who now runs a dog rescue charity with wife Tracy, said he managed to behave himself in the 1960s, despite his fame and a growing number of female fans.

He said: “You must understand I never smoked, drank or did drugs so I never went to a bar in my entire life.

“It’s not to say I didn’t go out and have a good time but I never went out and did what you think Hollywood celebrities do.”
