The leader of terror cell Boko Haram has reportedly "blown himself up" in a fight against an ISIS group.

Abubakar Shekau is believed to be dead following the invasion of the terror group’s stronghold in the Sambisa Forest in Nigeria by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters.

ISWAP broke away from Shekau's Boko Haram faction in 2016 after pledging allegiance to ISIS. Fighters raided Boko Haram's hideout using multiple gun trucks.

Local reports suggest Shekau was given the opportunity to surrender but was secretly wearing a suicide vest, blowing himself up alongside everyone present during the tense negotiations.
