Dump worker crushed to death under lorry in horror work accident
A waste worker has tragically died after getting trapped underneath a lorry at work.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Blackpool earlier this afternoon (October 4).
The age and identity of the worker has not currently been released by police.
It was reported by Lancashire Constabulary that a man working at the site became trapped under a lorry and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A police force spokesperson told LancsLive: "We were called around 12.20pm today (Monday, October 4) following a report of an industrial accident at Woods Waste in Peel Road.
"It was reported a man working at the site had become trapped under a lorry. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"A joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive and the police is underway.
"Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this sad and difficult time."
In North London, a florist was stabbed to death in the street months after his girlfriend died by suicide and left a note blaming him, an inquest heard.
Alicia Callaghan, 43, was found hanged by her partner Tony Eastlake – who was killed two months later and is now the subject of a murder probe.

Poplar Coroners' Court was told that after Alicia’s death the girlfriend of her son found a note saying: "I'm doing this because of Tony Eastlake".
A statement from Tony, from Islington in north London, was read out in the court.
It explained the couple had argued over abusive texts from his ex-wife and said: “The relationship, in general, was all in order but there had been some outside influences affecting her.
