Girl, 15, is raped on Kent playing field next to school and nursery as police say they believe the ‘victim knew her attacker’

A schoolgirl has been raped after being attacked in a playing field next to a school and nursery.

The 15-year-old girl was targeted on King George V Playing Field in Queensborough on the Isle of Sheppey.

Officers received a report of the incident at around 7:30pm on Wednesday September 29 that the girl had been raped in a field next to Queenborough School & Nursery.

Kent Police believe the victim and suspect are known to each other and are treating the incident as isolated.

Two police cars and a forensics van were observed at the scene on Thursday afternoon. Dogs were also seen in the back of one of the police cars, according to Kent Online.  

A Kent Police statement read: ‘Kent Police officers received a report that at around 7.30pm on Wednesday 29 September 2021 a 15-year-old girl had been raped in a field near Edwards Road, Queenborough.

‘Officers believe the victim and suspect are known to each other and are treating the incident as isolated. 

‘No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing.’

Following the incident, Queenborough School & Nursery, put out a tweet on Thursday saying that they would not be opening their gates that lead to the park where the girl was attacked.

They said: ‘The park next to the school has been cordoned off by police. This is not related to the school but we have been asked not to open the park gates this afternoon. Only the front gates will be open.’  

Enquiries are still ongoing.
